Help! Chicken pox, high temp and blue lips?

Hi there

I don't know if anyone can give me any advice but I'm a bit concerned about my DD. She has chicken pox and the spots only came up Wednesday morning. They have been getting worse as the days go on, which is expected. She has a high temperature, and has been prescribed Calpol and Piriton.

However, today, I have noticed that along with her high temperature, she has had slightly blue hands and the edges of her lips are blue.

Has anyone got any ideas why this could be?

Do you think I need to take her to hospital, or leave it and see how she is in the morning?

My 6 year old has chicken pox and is quite poorly with it but no blue lips or hands. I would ring the emergency Dr straight away if I were you. Sounds like she has it bad.
I was hoping my LO wouldn't get it as I read it is unusual for babies to get it as they still have the mums anti bodies.
Hope she is ok

Go to hosp if you haven't already, blue lips are a sign that she's not getting enough oxygen. Good luck and hope she is ok

I was told if they have a fever and blue extremities it is a medical emergency, get her to the hospital ASAP xx

i second that. god i feel worried for her. everytime i see on here that someones baby isint well i feel awful for them,im dreading the day my lo comes down with something,it panics me. i hope your lo is ok,please keep us updated if you can xx

Thanks for all the advice ladies.

I phoned NHS Direct and they immediately transfered me to one of the nurses.
After a long conversation about LO symptoms, they told me that because the Calpol was reducing her temp slightly, to keep her well hydrated and keep an eye on her, and if her lips turned blue again during the night, take her to an out of hours doctor.

She is settled and asleep now so will have to see what kind of night she has.

It is so horrible when LOs are ill. I am usually quite a confident person, but when it comes to LOs, I am always second guessing myself!
