Had my labs pulled yesterday, they called me today to schedule an ultrasound because " my hcg level came back an inappropriate number "

It took me half an hour poking different departments to actually get that number.
*32,178* they have me dated as 7w2days by lmp, but I'm certain by o date I and 6w6days.

What could be inappropriate about that number? I was expecting to hear "100" with How they were acting. I'm a wreck.

These are the hcg level averages by week.
I hope this helps.

Guideline To HCG Levels During Pregnancy

hCG levels in weeks from LMP (gestational age)**

3 weeks LMP: 5 – 50 mIU/ml
4 weeks LMP: 5 – 426 mIU/ml
5 weeks LMP: 18 – 7,340 mIU/ml
6 weeks LMP: 1,080 – 56,500 mIU/ml
7 – 8 weeks LMP: 7, 650 – 229,000 mIU/ml
9 – 12 weeks LMP: 25,700 – 288,000 mIU/ml
13 – 16 weeks LMP: 13,300 – 254,000 mIU/ml
17 – 24 weeks LMP: 4,060 – 165,400 mIU/ml
25 – 40 weeks LMP: 3,640 – 117,000 mIU/ml
Non-pregnant females: <5.0 mIU/ml
Postmenopausal females: <9.5 mIU/ml

How would it be inappropriate unless they have another draw to compare it to? Your number sounds perfectly normal to me.

Last beta was 63...at 14 dpo. That was forever ago!
At least I'll have a scan tomorrow.
Yay for that.

Hmmm...sounds totally normal to me.

For their dates it is probably on the lower side of "normal".
But for your dates it would be somewhere around the average mark.
Hcg levels shouldn't be just done once but with a comparison 48 hours later.
I'm high risk myself so I get my hcg done allot in early pregnancy.
Just to give you an example of how much range there is.
Dr's were convinced I was having multiples with lo.
My hcg was through the roof for aga (actual gestational age) I had scans from 4 weeks.
They were convinced that at my next scan (5 weeks) there would be twins.
But no just one.
Every woman/pregnancy is different.
Some produce lots of hcg others less.
I hope your scan goes well.

Those numbers look good to me. The more I read here, the more I realize that many doctors are clueless about early pregnancy...

I'm sorry they stressed you out so much. I agree with everyone else, your single number doesn't mean anything & it's appropriate by your dates. I will never understand why drs won't believe a woman when she says she knows when she O'd. Best of luck tomorrow with your scan. I had my first scan at 7w & saw a heartbeat! Looking forward to your update!

I feel so much better.

Scan today, measured 6w6days today, HB 126 .
