So I decided to use the last of our baking soda this morning and do that gender test. For those unaware, you put about a teaspoon of baking soda in a cup and pee in it (or you can pour from another cup into it) and if it fizzles - boy. If there's nothing happening - girl.

At first, there was nothing... no bubbles at all. I picked the cup up to dump it out and it started fizzling like crazy. So does that mean boy or girl? I imagine any fizzling would indicate boy?

I realize it's not entirely accurate but I'm still confused haha.

OMG funny! I say girl. It only fizzed when you picked it up so I would call that "interference".

I think that is proof that it doesn't really work. I'd just wait until 20 weeks to get the gender test.

Hahah thanks :)

I wasn't sure if that would make a difference because after it settled, I shook it again and it didn't fizz again. I don't know. I suppose I'm stuck waiting until Christmas to find out anything!

im going to try it, how much wee do you use?? and is baking soda, what we call baking powder or bicarbonate of soda?? I have both lol

I think bicarbonate. We have baking powder and baking soda...both very different from each other.

It would depend which version of 'results interpretation' you listen to!! lol

Some people say to pee in it and leave it, some say pee and then stir.. and then some people say if you get bubbles without fizzing its a boy, and some people say bubbles but no actual fizzing is girl

All I know is I'm having a girl - when I did the test, I peed in it and nothing happened, then i swilled the cup around, it didn't actually fizz, but a layer of bubbly foam formed over the top. Some would say that means boy, some say girl!

I could always wee on both ha ha and will google to see if i can find the one I need lol

LOL iv never heard of it!! Have you tryed the chinese gender test?

Its been right for my other 2 pregnancys and the majority of people I know. I know there not accurate just a bit of fun :)

I used baking powder.. I never thought it could mean bicarb! lol

has this been known to be correct much?

I've read a lot of correct predictions but who knows. They say it's because if you're having a boy, your urine is more acidic but if you're having a girl, your urine is more alkaline. So it's a little more scientific then just-for-fun but I'm sure it can be wrong too.

Thanks :) I had heard of that actually... I wasn't sure if you were referring to something else. But that predicts boy for me, which is what I'm hoping for. It predicted girl for me the first time around and sure enough, I have a 6 year old girl.

My Mom swears it'll be another girl because she, my aunt & grandma all had 2 girls first. I guess we shall see.

In the US we have both baking soda and baking powder. I'm going to assume it's the bicarb one for you guys. It sounds right.

I just did this test and mine came out 100% TEAM:pink: :happydance: I even swirled it and it didn't fizz at all!! I am so happy because I really want a little Airyonna Elise!! Every gender predictor test has come back girl so I think it's pretty safe to say I am team :pink:. I can't wait till my 16 week scan now so the OB can tell me for sure.
