As the title says, reaally - I'm going out with some friends tonight for my birthday (yes, it's about a week late) but Scarlett gets upset whenever OH holds her at the moment. I've been hoping it's just a phase for about a month, but she doesn't seem to be relenting! OH is in tears because he feels like Scarlett hates him because of his OCD and because he's a bit clumsy (dysbraxic) and has accidentally bumped her into doorframes etc a few times (not hard, but enough to make her grizzle). She'll smile and laugh at him when I'm holding her, and will occasionally be happy with him, but for the most part she just gets upset until I take her back.
If I need to stay home, I will, but I just wish Scarlett would be happier with him, for everyone's sake! Has this happened to anyone else?

He's her dad- you owe it to both of them to get out. She will survive and you need to celebrate your birthday!

aww this must be horrible for you both, i would suggest still gong out though to be honest as if she doesnt grow out of it then you will never be able to go out

as long as you know oh could cope when she gets upset then it might be good to let her have some daddy time to get used to him

No, this hasn't happened to me. But she might act differently if you aren't around at all and it's just your OH and maybe your OH will feel more comfortable if he's alone w/ her as well. I would go out, if your LO is upset, tell your OH to take her on a walk or something. Tell him if it gets really bad to call you and you can come home. But if you're completely eliminated from the situation, it might relax your LO and OH more.

Ivy has had lots of alone time with her dad right from the beginning as my OH takes her so I can have lie-ins, and I go out at least once a week so we've never had this problem. I think you need to let them have some alone time so they can get used to it hun! Go out and enjoy yourself, you can always get a cab home if she gets really upset :)

Thanks everyone! We've decided I will go, and I'm wearing one of OHs shirts and doing lots of vigorous Just Dance 2 so that if she gets too upsest he can weaar the top and it will smell of me. Hopefully!
I'm sure once I'm gone she'll man up anyway ;)

Have fun! Im sure she will be fine. What time does she go to bed? I usually go out after Nate goes to bed so he doesnt even know im gone, but he goes to sleep around 6:30-7.

When I'm around, and OH holds LO, he will cry. BUT if I'm NOT home, he's perfectly content to be with OH. It's almost like "oh well .. mommy's not home, so, you'll do"

Maybe your LO would be the same?

Hope you have a great night. P.s. Love your blog!

i expect i'm too late and your already on the raz!!! have a fabuloso night!!! ;) :wine::loopy::beer::dance::rofl:your lo will be fine my lo does this too!! but iv'e not left her yet she's a little hooked on the boobie juice:haha:x

is it only when your there too?
my LO is fine when he's with others soon as he see's me return he cries lol

She probably feels more comfortable with you because she knows you best. It might be hard and very stressful for OH at first (like it was for us in the beginning) but in the end it might help her get used to him.

My LO is the same way and i've been taking it in baby steps (no pun intended :winkwink:). So like when i run errands: grocery shopping, to the bank, post office, etc... I will leave LO with OH so they can spend some quality time :)

Babies have seperation anxiety at about that age. They usually only want their moms between 7 and 9 months.
