Thanks for looking here...please don't just pass, tell me what you think!!

I need to run a name question past you because it's really bugging me. You know when you tell people the names you like and then they pick at them? Well my mum decided to do that last night, she's made it clear in a polite way that she doesnt like one of the names we've chosen and started saying how it doesnt sound right with the last name and now it's playing on my mind. She's made me doubt myself! So I want to check whether this is really a crap name to put with our last name or whether my mum's just being annoying!

So I'm having non-ID twin boys. The name which is 100% is Arlo and the name which we both really like but are open to change it if something amazing comes along is Cruz. I think Arlo and Cruz sound cool together. They'll be having our dads middle names so they'd be:

Arlo Michael Hayes
Cruz Nicholas Hayes

Now the Cruz thing is, is it too much zzzzz going on when you say Cruz Hayes as they both end in a zzz sound??

I wonder how often you really call people by their first and last name anyway. But i dont want to settle on a name that doesn't sound right??

What do you think?! I need to decide whether it's a go-er or not!!

Thanks!!

Cruz Hayes sounds fine to me. Yeah a bit of the zzz sound but it's not too bad.

I wouldn't worry about that. I really like Cruz Nicholas! So yes, definitely a go-er! :flower:

It sounds fine to me! It's not as though the first name and surname are going to be run together that often anyways :flower:

I love the name Cruz infact we're having it as a middle name if our bump is blue.

I think Cruz Hayes sounds great :o)

Thanks ladies  I wasn't sure whether my mum was actually right!!

OK, i can keep calling him Cruz when he kicks me!

x

If you like it, go for it. But since you asked, I have to say I'm with your mum. I don't think it flows very well and it's very zzzzzzzzy. Arlington flows really nicely because its two syllables I think, one and one (for first and last name) sounds a bit staccato to me. But like I said, go with what you like not what your mum (or a stranger on a forum) thinks.

I think they BOTH sound great! Don't let her make you doubt it, if you and your DH like the names, go for it! I do not think either name sounds weird with the last name! Love your name ideas!

There's a little bit of a zzzz going on but I think it sounds fine! Arlo & Cruz do sound good together! xx

I think it sounds okay...Yes, there is a ZZZ sound, but not bad enough to change the name because of it, IMO.
Arlo & Cruz sound awesome together!!
Just to answer your question though, your first & last name are used quite often in school for attendance purposes, and moreso if there is another child with the same name, but I can't imagine that either Arlo or Cruz are all that popular? Not in my area at least
Lovely names!
:flower:

i like cruz but i have to agree with your mom, it's a bit of a mouthful with your last name! it sounds like you're slurring the word crazy, lol.

I don't like Cruz, I adore Arlo though! Arlo and Mylo? Or maybe too many 'o' sounds there. Maybe Arlo and: Archie, Arthur, Roscoe, Oskar, Theoden, Julien, Leo, Joed... Or for something more traditional in constrast to Arlo, maybe Charlie, Benjamin, Alfie, James, George, Theo. Though really most people won't notice the 'z' sounds so if you love the name go with it! You'll never please everyone so just please yourselves on this one :)
