I'm 5 days overdue cervix is posterior still (still at the back) and quite far up does this mean there's a possibility I'm being induced 12 days over or could things change it the next week? Or can my waters break at anytime? I'm confused

Can contractions start or your waters break before your cervix changes? If baby is ready

I'm sure ur cervix needs to change before any of the above. X

i may be rong but i always thought u needed to have a slightly thinned cervix to have ur waters broken by the nurse etc otherwise its a very painful experience.. im not 100% on this thou but just what i remeber reading else where.

So your waters or contractions cannot start unless your cervix is forward and open

I mean naturally chick like does my cervix need to be forward and thin for my waters to break all of a sudden or for contractions to start,

Or can that happen first then your cervix starts changing xx

i wud say that its unlikely to lose ur waters without ur cervix being somewhat thinned, i still get a bit confused with all this but i think the plug seals the cervix and that only really coems away during thinning of the cervix

sorry im prob not much help,
see if anyone else agrees with me or have a better answer for u. as ive never experienced waters breakin etc myself so im only goin by what ive read

Ye I get what you mean lol, its weird, can contractions start when cervix is closed, what makes waters break and contractions come on the baby? Because I guess which ever way contractions or waters breaking starts it all off?

not too sure on the waters but i no that contractions are what normally dilate the cervix.. c my cervix is very thinned and ive now lost the plug but im not dilated atall and havent had no sign of waters etc.. with my other pregnancy i had contractions and docs had to break my waters once i had started to dilate.. ive read on here that sum women are dilated at like 2-3cm and still no rupture of waters

So I guess its when baby sends a signal to say hey I'm ready to go now, when contractions start or for waters to break but its a good advantage if your cervix is thinning out etc xx

how about trying some morning primrose oil capsules, that might help mature your cervix x

Sounds like your body isnt ready yet ? is this your first baby ?

This is my fourth baby but the first to go overdue. I have not been checked but baby is still very high. I have lost part of my plug but my mw says anything can dislodge it. I don't have any signs either to say I could go into labour at any time. I am booked for a section on Wed but that's because my last baby was a section and I have past issues. Other than that, my trust let's you go past your due date by 14 days.

But I just wanted to know if you can get contractions and your waters break if your cervix is high up or can cervix change in a matter of days, is induction the definate anwser for me

Ye first baby I just wanted to know whether its still capable for me to have him naturally in the next few days before I get induced

The joys of labour is anything can happen.... your cervix could change in a little as a hour or may not changed at all.. The best thing to do is relax and let natural takes it course.. Hope things happen for you soon. x

Thankyou chick do you know whether your waters can break or contractions can start if cervix is high like is it the contractions and waters breaking that start to work your cervix

With my first my cervix was really high and they couldnt even do a sweep, I had to been induced ten days over due... if the cervix is closed and still plugged then i very much doubt they can break, you need your cervix to open a little.. and this is done when the babies head is putting pressure on your cervix or a hormone change within your body.. Bouncing on a ball and keeping active will help the baby put pressure it and sex or orgasm will help with the hormones... and I have also learnt that being relaxed helps a lot, when you tense you body wont do anything.. Hope this helps. x
