Hi everyone, hoping you can give me some advice. I am Australian (but am half Sicilian) and my DH is Indian. Our eldest son has an Indian first name and an English middle name. However, his first name shortens to Ash, so he has the choice not to draw attention to his Indian heritage if he wishes. I have an Italian first name and my DH has an Indian first name. It is important to me that our children also have names that connect them to their heritage. DH and I have basically decided on a name for DS2 but I'm not sure what form it should be in. We like Dominic. But Dominc is in the top 100 names and we are worried it might become common. We are considering Dominico, which is the Latin form and so would be a connection to his Italian heritage. But Dominico is a bit of a mouthful. His middle name will most likely be Varughese, which was the name of DH's late father. So, which do you think would be better: Dominic Varughese Dominico Varughese His nickname will be either Nic or Nico, depending on which name we choose. Thanks so much for you opinions- I really need help!
Prefer Dominic, dominico sounds too stretched out, almost like someone's taking the micky, (sorry!) And with Dominic you can still call him Nico for a nickname. I love the nickname Nico
I prefer Dominic, I think with Dominico and the middle name it's a bit of a mouthful. You could still use nico xx
