This is my fourth pregnancy and some may recall a post a month ago about vaginal pressure and pain like a baseball falling out. Well told my MW and she asked about VVV I quickly said No way (I had never heard of a thing.) Well in pain last night I looked with a mirror and low and behold huge veins hard and swollen in side my lips. Please tell me I am not alone and how do I ease the pain? Anyone know why this happens never had it in my previous pregnancy's. Thanx:coffee:

Hey hun. I didn't personally suffer with this, but my friend did whilst expecting baby #3 (singleton). She described exactly the same as you, the good news being that they vanished almost immediately after delivery. I had lots of pressure down below with the twins, but thankfully the veins behaved themselves lol. Had plenty of other unpleasant side effects to make up for it tho ;) x

I had never heard of this either until I had an appointment with a physiotherapist a couple of weeks ago. It is common in pregnancy especially in subsequent pregnancies. It is caused in the same ways as varicose veins in the legs or haemeroids in the back passage, and is to do with the extra pressure through our veins caused by carrying the babies, I presume it is more common in subsequent pregnancies due to the fact that our bodies have repeatedly been subjected to such pressures.
I feel for you, I have been worried I will develop them as usually I don't develop haemoroids till the end of pregnancy but have had them for several weeks now.
Take care, have a word with your midwife and see if you can take any creams or anything x
