help with daughters 1st birthday

Ive already bought her some toys but I want something as a keep sake, something I can have engraved to mark her 1st birthday that she will forever as im sure by the time shes 18 shes not going to care about the toys she got for her 1st birthday lol I have been looking at silver keepsake boxes and charm braclets but I cant find anything. shes got loads of baby bangles from her christening so i want to avoid buying her one of those.

My original plan was to buy a Pandora bracelet and buy charms to mark special milestones in her life and then it would be hers when she got older but I feel its to late to start one for her considering there would be missing charms marking her birth, first tooth, first steps etc.

I think the bracelet is def a lovely idea!! Not too late at all. Can u imagine how many milestones there are between now and 18?! I would have adored being presented with such a gift on my 18th!

How about a scrapbook of her first birthday with you telling the story behind each pictures you took.

I have done the pandora charm bracelet. I got her a pram for birth and a teddy for 1st birthday. I have also bought a lovely notebook that i have written a few pages for her birth and what charm she got and then the same for her 1st birthday detailing her achievements since the last entry. We have also bought a lovely silver box that holds the notebook and will hold all charms.

My oh has a classic car collection which is worth a fair bit now that he was given on his 18. His papa had bought him a car every year on his birthday and christmas.

a tooth charm for first tooth

a giraffe charm because she loves giraffes lol

feet charm for first steps

and a babies 1st bithday charm

I wanted to buy this braclet a year ago I just never got round to it so happy im doing it now though

I love the pandora idea! I'm going to steal it! And I don't think you've missed out at all! She has all her life to fill the bracelet so one charm per year is sufficient I think! The notebook to accompany it would be great too! I've got a book that I write in and will pass on to LO when she is older. It's great to record memories, I have a wooden box with her name and date of birth engraved on the front and I keep all the special things in there like her hospital tags, birth cert etc xxx

You can get gorgeous hand and foot print jewellery made now- you could get a charm with the prints on? I've been hinting to my DH for this for my bday lol! (it's the sameday as DD's)

I was thinking off doing this if No 2 is a girl! (and any future children...but that is going to happen for a LONG time).

I would keep it a secret personally. Only because I know I would cave and give it to her if she ever asked for it

I was thinking about it last night. I will buy a charm for 1st, 5th, 10th, 16th and 18th birthday (and maybe the odd other) but I will put it in a boxed presentation frame which will hang on her wall. Will take it down at some point and give it her for her 18th birthday as well as the email address and password for the account I created for her with emails from me

I don't want to buy too many charms as by the time she has it, it'll be worth a fortune and knowing my child, she'd lose it
