What do you think of a Hetty as a name on it's own as opposed to being shortened from Henrietta or Harriet?

Does it 'go' with our little boys name (Jarvis)?

Also, do you think Hetty or Hettie?

Also, for those in the UK, the girl who played Lucy Beale is called Hetti - do you think that name is going to get popular because of the recent Eastenders storyline?!!

A lot of people don't like 'nicknames' as full names but I like Hettie, and I don't particularly like Harriet so for me yes I would name her the name I like. My daughter is Bella but we call he Belle so although Bella is also a nn its a full name to us lol!!

Sorry totally went off at a tangent there. I like it and would spell it Hettie.

It goes well with Jarvis.

I like it as a nn or as a name on its own. I can't see it getting popular because of EE as it's the actresses name rather than the characters.

I thought you meant the hoover:haha:

I love it, although I was going to be a Harriet, because my mum loves the nickname Hattie. She only reason she chose not to was because my gran started calling me Harry. So she changed my name to Abigail.

Oh yeah...I forgot about the Hoover!!

It's cute. I prefer Hettie, it looks more feminine.

I don't like the use of nicknames as standalone names. That's said, out of the two, I prefer Hettie, although I don't think it goes with Jarvis. But I also don't believe siblings have to match either.

I like Hettie (spelt that way), my first thought is hoover but that's not a bad thing in my mind- they are good hoovers :haha:. I would go with a long name (Heather, Hester, Henrietta or Harriet) but only because I'm stuck in the mud when it comes to using full names!

Personally I don't like it because it sounds like a nickname to me rather than a full name. It also reminds me of the hoover but I don't think that's much of an issue because Henry is obviously the male version and that's a popular name anyway. I think it could be cute on a child but not so much on a teen/adult but that is just my opinion. I also don't think the Lucy storyline will make the name popular tbh, she is still not a very 'famous' actress x

I didnt know that was her name so no. Its not my style though and think of hoover lol its definitely very nicknamie. X

I had to comment on this!

My niece is called Hettie Grace (not short for anything just a stand alone name). It suits her SOoo much, she's a spunky beautiful little 7 year old and everyone always says they like her name x

I love the name hettie. For me personally I'd like a longer name and then hettie as a nn which is one reason we aren't using it - I don't particular like any longer versions. However if your happy with it as a full name then go for it

Aww! That's great to hear. I think I'm sold on Hettie! OH prefers Hetty but I'm giving birth so I think I get the last say!

Thanks everyone!

I like Hettie as a name on it's own x

I love hettie as a stand alone name, our dd is etta and i don't regret for one second having that as her official name as opposed to a nn. it seems silly to me to have a name you love and then call them a longer version if your not planning on using it

i love the name !
never thought of it as I've never heard anyone called that before but i really like
( but it does kind of remind me of the hoover)
I also like jarvis ! must have similar taste in names :)
