Hi, I'm Alix, I'm 17 and this morning I found out I am pregnant.
I'm really shy and I feel super awkward posting here but i really need some advice as i'm very scared!
How do i go about with doctors appointments and things? Do i phone and tell them i'm pregnant or do i just ask for an appointment? And how soon should i do this?
Has anyone got any advice on telling my parents? This is what i'm most worried about.. my mum is going to go nuts!
And what should i expect from pregnancy? I've been having mild cramps and quite bad headaches, is this normall?
Thanks to anyone who answers! x :hugs:

Hi hun!

Im Kaisa, Im 19 and Im 37+4 pregnant with my little girl!

Congrats on your pregnancy! Don't be scared posting here, this site is full of lovely and helpful ladies!

As for appointment, not sure how it goes here as I had my first appointments in Finland and I just needed to call to nurse, said Im pregnant and she booked me appointment. There I didn't have to go to doctors. When I moved to UK I automatically got midwife.

I told my parents after my 12 week scan. I just sent scan picture on my mums phone and she called back. :)

Cramps and headaches are normal in early pregnancy. Remember to drink a lot of water that should help for headaches.

Well hi :flower: C'grats on your pregnancy first off :)

I'd ring your doctor's office asap simply because the sooner you can get on prenatal vitamins and get yourself checked out, the better. Just tell them you did a home test (assuming you did?) or if you went to a clinic, tell them that, and that it came up positive and you need an appointment. They'll say they want to retest to make sure it's positive and then they'll go from their, set you up with an OB or MW and such.

Parents were difficult I think for everyone, the best advice I can give is I'd wait until you go to the doctor once but don't keep it from them for too long or else they may be a bit mad. I sat down with mine one at a time so I didn't feel ganged up on and that worked best, but if your OH/FOB wants to be there then you can tell both at the same time.

Headaches and cramps are just part of pregnancy :haha: unfortunately! As long as cramps arn't accompanied by heavy bleeding then it shouldn't be anything to worry about.

Goodluck, I'm here anytime if you need someone to talk to! :hugs:

Hi! I'm Sydney, 16, and 27 weeks pregnant with a little girl named Scarlet. :flower:

Finding out you're pregnant at such a young age is always really scary at first. But there are some lovely ladies here, and they're all very helpful.

As for telling your parents, I don't really have much advise, as my baby's father's mum told my parents. And they booked my Obgyn appointment. But very seldom are anybody's parents SUPER excited at first. It takes a while for everyone to get used to it. But no matter how bad it is at first, they almost always come around.

Hi! Im Taylor im 18 and im 35 weeks 2 days pregnant with my first :)
Headaches and all other kinds of aches and pains will probably keep happening to you most of your pregnancy :) call the ob or mw as soon as possible...early prenatal care is essential :) i didnt tell my parents till 12 weeks. I told my mom and she told my dad! But of course she already knew from her mothers intuition. Lol. I wish i would have told her sooner but i was scared and she reated much better than i thought she was. Welcome to bnb and much congratulations and well wishes throughout your pregnancy!

I believe you can, but no more then two a day, and regular strength. I'd really just ask the doctor whenever you get in.

Hiya, welcome to BnB. I'm Jenna, I'm 18 and 18 weeks pregnant :)

With doctors appointments I'd just phone up asap, tell them your pregnant then they'll know what the appointments for. Are you in the UK? They might just refer you to a midwife if so, that's what they did with me. :)

As for telling your parents its something you just have to come out and say, its hard not going to say its not but parents come round, I know mine have and they're amazingly supportive. My mums even started buying stuff for LO :)

In your first trimester I'd expect some cramps, I had loads of odd twinges and such but was all fine, as long as there's no bleeding or severe cramping you're okay. Watch out for morning sickness that's a right devil and just seems to sneak up on you! Anyway wishing you a happy and healthy 9 months. All the girls on here are so helpful so if you ever have any questions don't be afraid to ask, we don't bite ;) :flower:
