Anyone elses Lo get really bad hiccups? Poor Chase get's them a lot, particularly after a night feed but not right away only when i lie him down to sleep. They seem so violent and last for ages and they wake him up. Just wondered if there is anything i can do to get rid of them, i try winding him but they just don't go for ages. x

My LO was a hiccup queen! Winding sometimes got rid of them (although one hv said it proved they didn't have wind). The two solutions that worked for us were 1. gripe water - but need to be a month (i gave it at 3 weeks) and 2. cranial osteopathy - we had various reasons for having it but really helped hiccups.

I would go gripe water all the way - hope your lo is old enough for it! a miracle cure

thanks for the reply hun, unfortunately he's not old enough for gripe water yet, he'll be 2 weeks old on Friday. I did a bit of reading up on it and it say's there not bothered by them the parents are more bothered but he looks like they bother him and they make him a bit sick sometimes there that bad! Will try gripe water in 2 weeks time thanks for the tip x

The gripe water works for H too. She would give your lo a run for her money on the hiccuping queen title. Lol. :)

nightmare trying to get her to swallow it though - and the faces she pulls are hilarious! The other thing that works is getting her to drink something. Milk or water - it just moves the muscles and makes the diaphragm forget it's hiccuping. Woohoo!

She hiccupped regularly for the last three months in the womb too. Odd isn't it.

X

Earl still gets them 1/2 times a day. He's always had them, usually after a feed, used to be every feed!

It's a sign that they are sucking hard to get the milk up. It's also a sign that their little tummies are getting used to getting their own wind up (contractions of the diaphragm) so they're nothing sinister. However, Earl used to spit up becuase of them (actually still does if they attack while he's in his bumbo) and even now I don't actually have to physically wind him very often.

Nothing helped Earl's but I think he just got used to them. He now knows they're nothing bad and just gets on with whatever he's doing. He also gets them occasionally when he's starting to get hungry....great fun trying to feed him if he's got them!

I give my son some water when he got hiccups, the swallowing helps.

Aaaah, Mika hiccups constantly! He did it in the womb too though so I shouldn't be surprised. They are LOUD and sound like cartoon hiccups iykwim. Its kind of funny to hear them but he seems to get rather annoyed when they happen because he has to stop eating to hiccup!

ela gets them all the time its getting less and less as shes getting older though, drinking works to get rid of them xxx

Annabelle gets them 3-4 times a day for at least 5 mins a time. she starts getting frustrated with them after a while and gets grouchy. Not suprising tho seeing she sounds like a squeeky dog toy!!

think hers are genetic, cos i get them really badly too! lol

Mia gets them bad too! At least twice a day more so at night when i'm trying to put her down to sleep she doesn't seem bothered by them but after 5 minutes i start to feel like i wish i could have them for her poor mite!

Sienna used to get them all the time but its calmed down alot over the last month or so x
