HIP/Sure Start timescales??!

I sent off my HIP grant form 3 weeks ago friday just gone, haven't heard a thing yet. They say they "aim to pay within 4 weeks". I was just wondering whether anyone else's claim had taken this long or whether I should ring? A little dubious about ringing before it's been 4 weeks as I'm sure they'll just say "it can take up to four weeks". I live in oxfordshire, if that helps. I gather it may take different amounts of time to sort out depending where you live??

Also, I sent off my surestart form on Thurs 9th (week before last). How long will it be before I hear anything? Not sure if I'm entitled but we get quite a bit in tax credits, and I'd rather apply and have them say no, than not apply at all!

You should ring. They should be able to tell you if they've received it at least. I think my health in pregnancy one took about 2 weeks. My sure start one took ages because I sent the form off, rang 3 weeks later n they'd not got it so I sent another one but the midwife told me to leave it with her and she'd sign it n send if off, she sent it off without even filling her bit out!!! When I finally got it sorted it took about 3 days. I'd ring cos atleast if they've received it you know you're just waiting for it to be sorted.

If you look on your tax credits form n it says you're getting the basic rate or more in child tax credits then you'll get the sure start grant xx

not sure about the surestart i only sent mine of on monday but with the hip grant it took just over a week, i would give them a wee call.

just called - its "on the system" apparently. So I guess that means I shall get the payment soon.

Just have to wait it out for the surestart. Think I will be entitled, just kinda holding off getting excited, just incase!

with the surestart grant make sure you send evidence with the claim my mw's husband works at the place where they process the forms so she told me to send my income support letter with the claim i got my money in 7 days x
i got my hip grant in 5 days too just make sure you send evidence as my friend didnt and it took 4 weeks for them to verify her claim x

I don't think area matters! My friend got her HIP grant 3 weeks after sending off the forms! I got my today only 9 days after sending off the forms!

As for surestart I don't know sorry I'm not entitled

my HIP grant took 10 days to come through.

not sure about surestart though as i haven't sent mine off yet, waiting for mw to fill it in for me x

my hip took i think it was 10 days, and my sure start - i sent that off at 31+1 on 27th august and i got a letter yesterday saying it would be in my bank on the 14th of this month.

it does seem to vary from person to person though.

Im still waiting for my news on my hip grant so shall ring this week double check it arrived there, for the sure start we are not entitled so i wouldnt know there xxx
