I've been basically living on my birthing/gym ball and I've only just thought that the way in which you stop yourself from falling off is by engaging your core muscles (that's why you can't slouch when you are sat on them). As I have stong stomach muscles and that is what the midwife is saying is stopping him from engaging, am i really doing more harm than good by sitting on it?

Any ideas?

I put mine up against the sofa, minimises the risk of falling off.

I would say "don't overdo it"... spending 10/20 minutes on it a couple of times a day should be ok, but avoid the temptation of sitting on it ALL day (which is difficult - since they can become REALLY comfortable...).

I found that I was "overdoing it" earlier in pregnancy (spent too long on there and it was irritating my SPD/sacroiliac problems....). Didn't mean to stop altogether, but now I just hop on for 10 minutes here and there....

Good luck.
