My mum turns 60 this year and has decided that, to celebrate, she'd like the family to go on holiday together! It'll be my mum and dad, my sister (and possibly her husband...that's a long story!), me, my husband and our baby. Our baby will be seven months when we go in July.
I can't remember where we're planning to go (baby brain!), but it's a two hour flight, flying from Birmingham (UK) Airport at around 6am.
I'm hoping to still be breastfeeding by then, so (hopefully!) carrying formula on the flight wouldn't be an issue, though I may need to take some food for baby.
We're planning on investing in a lightweight umbrella pushchair and a travel cot, and will check these at check-in. Then use our wrap for the baby in the airport (might upgrade to an Ergo).

We're staying in an all-inclusive family-friendly resort somewhere Spanish, for a week.

Any tips for the travel? Or any tips for when we're there?

Many thanks!

U can keep ur buggy and they will take it off u at the plane door and put it with the luggage, just to let u know.
My son was 9mths the first time I took him. I took a tiny paddling pool and put it on the lounger next to me so he could sit in it under the umbrella and play with bath toys right next to me. A towel dressing gown was invaluable for me to put on him when he came out of the water... Tho I poncho towel would work just as well! Just a few things from what I remember... Was a while ago!

I've a list for you lol-

Swim nappies
Buggy sun shade (instead of an umbrella that you will constantly be moving)
Milton cold water sterilising tablets for dummies/babies cutlery etc.
Swim ring for baby (inflatable one).
Don't overload on normal nappies, the Spanish ones are fine.
Lots of toys for the plane.
Don't take tons of clothes for baby (if its hot where your going) my lo spent a week in vests.
Make sure you book a room with air con (good airconditioning= sleeping baby)
My lo has eaten pretty much anything from 7 months just be careful with meats abroad.

Good luck have a great holiday (it will be easier than you think)

I went to tenerife when my lo was 4 months and going again when she is 10 months.

We went on vacation when LO was 7 months (drove, didn't fly) and it was actually really easy.. Much less stressful than I thought it would be! We BLW and we were only about a month in so I just went back to almost EBF as it was much easier since there wasn't a lot of healthy food available (we wean slow though so he really didn't miss that 1 meal/day!)

At that age he still napped well in the stroller or wrap or ergo and it was easy enough to go back to the hotel if we needed a break from everything just to play or nap.

Have fun!!

We went when my eldest was 7 months.

I took far too many clothes for him - he just needed a t-shirt & nappys during the day. He sat in the shade & had factor 50 on when he went in the pool.

We actually reused some swim nappies.
If he hadnt done anything in them we squeezed them out and left them to dry in the sun.
Could use the same one twice in one day then bin them.

We had been weaning about a month and I still breast fed as well, so he had milk & at meal times we out him in a high chair and left him to try lots of different finger foods.
He came home after a week practically weaned as he was having finger foods 3 times a day!

Toys - we took loads and could have taken more! Pick things you know your LO loves at home so you know they will be entertained.

I breastfed on the flight when taking off & landing - just waited until crew were sat down so no one could say anything. We had a dummy on hand as well to help LO suck and try and stop ears hurting.

Try & do a nappy change just before you get on flight & get some 12 hour dry ones then hopefully you won't have to squeeze in to the tiny toilets on the plane.

Make sure you take a sippy cup or simular for LO to drink water from whilst there.

Take enough nappys to last the 1st 3 days if your planning on buying them out there - it might take a day or two to figure out where the best supermarket is.
We went for a week & I actually took a weeks worth of nappys!

I agree Milton tablets for sterilising bits. I bought a packet and borrowed a dish from the resturant to use in our room. Used these on 2nd hol as LO was on a couple of bottles a day by this time. Will take them in May if for any reason I'm not still EBF baby no.2.

The 2nd holiday we went on LO was 14 months & we didn't take a travel cot on either hol - the ones we got at the hotels were fab. Meant we could use that extra luggage allowance for nappys & toys etc.

Just a quick point. I notice that your baby is still tiny (a few days younger than mine) and you mentioned taking an umbrella pushchair. You will need one that reclines fully as babies have to lie flat until 6 months. We've been to Greece, Italy and NZ with our now 3 year old daughter and until she was 2.5 always took her travel system and it was brilliant because she napped on the beach for a couple of hours every day giving us valuable sunbathing/swimming time. Also useful in the evenings if you are eating late-ish.

Oh yes i have some very important advice for you- take your car seat!!! We didnt, and well, it wasnt one of our finer moments being stranded in Malaga airport at 10 o clock at night with no car seat coz the car hire place didnt have one for a baby after telling us before we went they would have one, all they had was a toddler seat which i refused to take. It resulted in me having a complete meltdown and shouting at the assistant coz she wouldnt help us to find one. After an 8 hour flight delay i was in no mood to be left at the airport in an underground car park which was about 40 degrees with sweat pouring down us, a 3 month old baby, absolutely shattered from being up since 3am that day and having no way to get to our resort at the other end! So be warned, take your car seat!!!

Just to note, we made a complaint and got £50 back from the car hire company for our trauma!
