So I have the baby bullet and also bought the recipe book. To me the guide on introducing food doesn't seem correct. Everytime I introduced different fruit to her she would have a bad reaction. Excessive spitting up or being constipated. I asked my pediatrician about the fruits and he said he doesn't recommend fruits until 9 months +... And also said she should start getting meats soon aswell. The book doesn't introduce meats til much later. Im really at a loss if I should start introducing meats now? She only gets vegetables and cereals like rice or oatmeal. I'm still in the process of introducing a variety of vegetables to her. I don't want her to have a bad reaction to the meat & can you puree meat? She will be 7 months in 4 days and is still eating puree food. If anyone that has/is preparing a home made diet for their child please give me some insight or advice.

At 6 months LO can have everything except shell fish & nuts (unless theres an alergy in the family its advised to wait until a year)..

I have pureed meats & it tends to go into a powder but its fine once mixed with other things.

My LO has been having fruit since 4 months.
Xx

My LO has been having fruit since 4 months as well. HV said it was absolutely fine, but maybe I shouldnt give it too often incase my baby developed a sweet tooth. My HV said meat is also fine from 4-6 months, however should wait until 6 months for fish xxx

They shouldn't have honey either, or anything unpasteurised or raw/undercooked meats and fish. You're advised to wait until 5 to give whole nuts, as they're a choking hazard.

But fruit? That's one of the first foods a baby can have! I think it's quite important to introduce meat and fish early on, as they need the iron. There's not much iron in a mushed up carrot!

Hi, the Annabel Karmel "Weaning" is really good for recipe ideas and advice. She also has a website annabelkarmel.com which has loads of advice and recipes. I am kinda following this and all is going quite well except the finger foods! My lazy boy just can't be gassed doing it for himself! Hope this helps. xx

My LO has meat 5 x a week.. maybe 6.. depends what we are doing that day as she is BLW too so sometimes if we are out its easier to give her a sandwich etc..
but she has iron fortified cereal for breakfast if we are out all day! xx

I am an RN and a mom and I have to say the whole fruit or vegis first is a little misleading especially when they give the reason as one does not want the baby to develop a sweet tooth. If you think about it breast milk is sweet. The most important thing you can do for a child is offer variety and make sure to stay away from fruits with high acid content. Meat is best introduced later as you baby's digestive system is still developing. When I have a patient with stomach problems I specifically tell them to avoid meat until they are better as it is hard to digest. Having your child enjoy a wide variety of fruits and vegitables is ok to do. Giving them chocolate and artifically sweetened items is where you get into trouble. My brother in law is a nutritionist specialized in infant nutrition and he agrees with this aslo. Remember your child is just learning to eat and you are still supplimenting with breastmilk/formula. I use the baby bullet and am ok with the introduction schedule. I may stray from it from time to time but for the most part it is on track. Just remember there are alot of different thoughts out there about what you should do and what is popular this decade will change next. Just remember variety and if you can't pronounce everything that goes into it chances are your baby shouldn't be eating it.
