I have read a couple of reviews in the review section on BnB and they seemed to be really positive, but I am not honsetly convinced that a nappy so cheap can really rival the well known brands???

Anyone using these on a daily basis?

i use them and like them they arent my fav as they are a bit bulky once i add the absorbancy caus MF inserts just dont work on their own for us but i like them im happy to add a natural fibre booster to them and use them around the house but i tend to opt for more slimfitting nappies for when we are out

Thanks hun, I just don't have tons of money right now and am newly converting to cloth right now, I ordered a Itti Bitti AIO but was too small for my LO, I've ordered 2 ebay cheapies and have also ordered 5 Tots Bots easyfits as I just wanted to try out a few before committing to a whole set. I was just kind of hoping that I could order several of the more expensive well known brands and then 'bulk up' my stash with ebay cheapies aswell until funds allow me to invest a little more. I have bought some fleece liners and some bamboo boosters so I guess I can do what you do and bulk it up a bit (I love the big cloth bum look lol)

They are a great way to introduce yourself very cheaply to cloth. They are bog-standard pocket nappies, which generally fit ok and are easy to use. They were my entry iinto the world of cloth when my LO was tiny, and they worked great for us. We had a baby who hated the tiniest feeling of being wet, and we were changing her so often that sposies were costing us a fortune. We got 24 nappies and 48 inserts which did us fine in those early days.

I eventually got to the point of selling them and buying preloved "main brand" nappies, then buying new ones when I'd found what styles I liked etc. But I have kept one ebay cheapie for nostalgia

In terms of quality, I wouldn't place bets on them surviving on to being used on another baby, especially if they were the sole nappies in a stash. But at the price they are, that wouldn't really matter :)

My ebay cheapie keeps amazing me with it's absorbancy. It's just microfibre but when I change him after 4 hours, the booster isn't even wet all the way to the end!!

However, it's a minky type and it does wick. And also, the applix has started falling apart. I would say I've only used it maybe 10-15 times maximum.

So all in all, not great for a whole stash! But it was £2.99 + p&p. But great for bulking it up, just perhaps do changes more often.

Thank you so much, really appreciate the help, it's just hard to know what to get and like I said, don't have tons of money to waste on buying the 'wrong' sort lol I've got 2 ebay cheapies on their way to me so will see what they are like, plus I've ordered 5 tots bots easyfits (preloved) to see if they are any good. I absolutely ADORED the Bitti D'lish that arrived today in giraffe print but it didn't seem to be a great fit on my LO, it seemed too low at the back and he ended up with builders bum ha ha!! So I am gutted because it is a gorgeous gorgeous nappy! Feels like I've fallen at the first hurdle though because the Bitti d'lish was small size which should go up to 7.5g and my LO is only 5.6kg so thought it would be fine but apparently not :-s

Excuse me for being dumb...but what does 'wick' mean??

Is your baby quite long? Weight isn't always that helpful when it comes to nappies, because a baby could be light but long! And when you're talking about the ultra trim, low-rise styles like Itti D'Lish and Bambooty, that can make a difference. The builders bum you described does sound like it was a length issue rather than a weight issue.

If you like Ittis, you could try and find a pre-loved Tutto, which is Itti Bitti's BTP nappy :)

Ah I see...how confusing! Yeah my baby is quite long and with long limbs but not very fat, so that might be why! I have seen the Tutto's but my god they are expensive!! I'll have to find some preloved ones I think! x

I agree the weights aren't always that helpful.

Wicking is when the wee leaks out of the nappy, but just onto the front fabric of the nappy. So it is waterproof but where it meets at the edge of the legs, the wee leaks from the inner fabric to the outer... Does that make sense?

i have tried 2 types of ebay "cheapies", the ones from china and also ones from the uk which are about 7.50 each so not true "cheapies" but they are fab!!!

Wicking is when liquid is drawn through to the outer layers of the nappy. It's most common if you have a nappy that has an outer layer that is absorbent like cotton or bamboo velour. Where the inside meets the outside fabric, e.g. at the legs, the wee can be drawn along the fabric (the more technical definition is that the liquid is drawn through the absorbent materials by capillary action). It tends not to result in massive leakage but any clothes that are touching the area can get damp too. It can happen if LO is wearing a really tight vest/trousers etc at the edge of the nappy too, where the absorbent material of the clothes pushes against the edge of the nappy.

^^^^ that's what I meant! I knew Rachel would come and explain it better

Most of mine are eBay cheapies, and I really like them. I'm looking into getting some boosters but we have managed perfectly fine for 4 months without. I prefer the minky type ones as they seem to be bigger sized, some of the others seem rather small and not like they will be fitting until he is potty trained.

Although I have now got a lot of other brands (tots bots, Bumgenius, wee notions etc) I still use ebay cheapies on an almost daily basis. I have 97KGallery ones and I must say that they are pretty damn good.

We have a mixed stash that includes cheapies and honestly, once they have an extra booster in them, they are just as good as my brand name diapers (most of those need boosting these days too). We've had our Coolababy diapers since birth (barely used them til 2 months old though), the Pouponds since ~1month old and the Gallery97k since dd was maybe 8 months old and they are all still going strong even with hot water washes and being tumble dried most of the time  They don't fit all babies great, but then neither do the brand names. For the price, it's worth a try though

My stash is made up of cheapies (20) Tots Bots version 2's and fitted and wraps. We use cheapies all day, with one MF booster and one slimline hemp booster. They work brilliantly for us, and fit my LO well (she is 33 months but weighs 24lbs and is 76cm tall).

I am a new mum and also new to cloth nappies. I have a bunch of Lollipop and Little Lamb bamboo nappies plus wrap. These worked ok when my baby was smaller but I always disliked the fact that they felt wet right up to where they sit on his waist. I also got the most leaks with the LL wraps. Lollipop wraps never leaked.

I also have two Internet cheapies from 97kgallery. One leaked at the beginning when baby was quite skinny and small - I didn't notice the gap around his leg. However, since then these eBay cheapies have been my favourite.

I boost them with Little lamb bamboo boosters at the back and they hold sooo much wee without baby feeling wet. In fact you can remove a very heavy nappy (my baby is a big wee-er) but the fleece surface of the nappy that is against his skin feels dry. Amazing. Can't say the same for the bamboo ones.

I am going to order more eBay cheapies today and spend my £50 local council vouchers on a day pack of bum genius maybe.

I think the OP is smart to try a few different ones before committing to one kind.

my ebay cheapies are fine havent had any leaks however .. i cant use all of them yet , some of them are still a bit big and give a bigleg gape on my LO .

the type that are working for us atm have poppers that go over the poppers on the right hand side like on ittis (do you know what i mean ?) so i can pull them tighter . but she is only 10lb so wont be long before she fit in her others i dont suppose. ours are 97k gallery and good_seller .
I also use a ll bamboo booster in mine but tbh as she is still small its prob not needed yet .

My stash started out mainly eBay cheapies, and although I've sold most of them I still have some, because tbh they're so reliable and easy to throw on.
I've used them with a LL booster since about 5/6months, because they only come with one insert and after that you need a bit more absorbancy.

I've have tried quite a few brands, but cheapies are one of the few that have never leaked (which is surprising for a BTP) - and they've well outlasted my Bumgenius which died after a couple of months, if that.

Well worth the pennies IMO, especially if you're just starting out.
