DH and I have been married for 4 years and still haven't been able to on honeymoon for lots of reasons, our dream honeymoon is to do a Californian coast road trip going to the major cities and finally driving to Vegas but I really don't want to spend more than £2000 so we can still go on holiday with the boys (they wouldn't be coming) which wouldn't be enough money and also I think I would be more comfortable only going for a week and that would be a 2 week holiday.

Hubby is BIG on his cars and driving, so we really like the idea of a road trip with a car hire probably, Im big on my history, would like lots of interesting things, but we're probably going to have to go in August, we also need to be able to book last minute due to hubby's job, any ideas of places that would be good?

Apologies ive done a few threads on this flipping honeymoon as we keep changing our minds!

It's our 10th "together" anniversary this year so we WILL go!

Sometimes I find great deals to get on groupon or through social living or something for road trip/hotel ideas. I think they do have Europe trips in there. Occasionally I'll see something for somewhere in Europe.

Abroad please, currently looking at Italian lakes and Amalfi Coast but some reviews putting me off.

My in laws go to the south of France and drive through the mountains to
Italy every year, they love it.

My FIL builds and transports cars so they drive their luxury sports car and regularly end up on YouTube after car fans spot and record them :D

I was just going to say my bro is like your hubby and likes that kind of thing, they've done the cross USA road trip and are doing Italy for their honey moon. They are sooo fussy so it must be nice for them to go on honeymoon! I don't know much about their trip but I think they are flying to Milan?

I've done a road trip in Italy. Absolutely loved it, Italy is beautiful however we could of done with more time as it ended up being quite rushed - for example we planned to go to/see a set number of places and carefully planned out travel time etc but we tried to cram too many places in and then we'd not get to see much of the different places that we wanted to.
We flew to Milan, and travelled down to the coast of Genoa and La Spezia and onto Pisa, then to Florence, Rome and finally Naples.

For me, I would love to drive to Germany (along the Autobahn) and have a go around the Nurbergring.......probably not everyones cup of tea!

My parent have been to the Amalfi Coast. They absolutely loved it.

My DH's wanted to do this for years and im sure he would jump at the chance if I said to do that but it's not quite romantic enough for a honeymoon for me lol, he would probably want to do it in our own car too, definitely a weekend trip for us sometime

Thanks everyone, to those who have done the fly drives mentioned or know people who have do you know what companies you/they used to book?

We done nurburgring and lakes in italy. I preferred Germany because I love my history too!

I have to admit I've don't know anything about cultural sites in Germany I will have to do some research, but I studied Italian history as part of my degree and have only done Rome so would really like to see other parts. There's so much to see in North Italy but I love the idea of seeing Pompeii, the Amalfi Coast drive kinda scares me a bit tbh though :/ although if we were to do the lakes hubby would want to do the Stevia pass so I'm not sure what's worse!
