As I have had a previous miscarriage I am being extra cautious this time and have cut out all caffeine! I just feel cold though all the time without drinking any hot drinks! Any suggestions? I have read so many different things about herbal teas I don't know which are safe!

So sorry to hear about your m/c. I have also cut out caffeine completely but I do have 1 decaf tea and coffee per day! I also have hot water with sliced lemon in, hot blackcurrent, hot chcocolate and sometimes cup a soups. I know you cannot drink some herbal teas but I'm not sure which ones. Hope this helps.xxxx

You could try deaf tea and coffee. Or hot chocolate xxx

hot blackcurrents nice or you could get decaf teabags my sister drinks em they taste alright

Fruit teas are fine - it's some of the more 'herbal' ones that are a problem.

I just have one normal tea a day and thats it no other stuff with caffiene in it.

I only drink decaff tea n coffee, hot choc, hot blackcurrant etc.
My saviour this time has been lemon and Ginger tea. It makes my nausea go completely!!!
The only herbals I know to avoid are rose hip and raspberry leaf teas.

I'm so hooked on caffeine there's no way I could cut it out completely, I've cut way down tho, I used to have about 4/5 filter coffees, couple of cups of tea and a couple of cans of redbull in a day now I just drink tea or the very occasional coffee. (like once a week) I know it's not ideal but at least its not alcohol or smoking.

I'm loving lemon and ginger tea. Tea pigs do a particularly nice one

i have been drinking decaf pg tips and they taste fine! also decaf cappacinos! x

I'm all for the lemon and ginger! So good for nausea and the ginger is nice and warming too!

I've been drinking decaff coffee and tea. I especially like India spiced tea which is flavored with cinammon.

I changed to decaf tea when I was pregnant with my son and never mad the switch back after I had him 3 years ago so I don't know any different really but I do find that lemon and ginger has been brilliant with nausea and is quite refreshing for a hot drink! I'm really partial to a hot cordial, robinsons apple and blackcurrant is yum warm :) x

Redbush tea is quite nice, and I've never read anything about it not being good for pregnancy. It's like regular tea but more aromatic. I asked my midwife about peppermint tea and she said it was fine. I try to take herbal teas in moderation just to be on the safe side, but I think it's just some of the more exotic ingredients we need to worry about. Rasperry leaf for one shouldn't be taken during the first trimester.

Thanks girls. I have bought some peppermint tea, hot chocolate and decaff teabags. (Altho decaff and hot choc still have small amounts of caffeine in I figure it's safe as I'm not drinking loads!) Also I found out that white chocolate has no caffeine in so we can eat as much of that as we like! Or white choc hot chocolate! Yum!
Lemon and ginger sounds nice so I'll give that a try too.

Asda do nice multipacks of fruit teas, I get the red ones that say caffeine free and I double checked that the raspberry ones are just flavoured and not raspberry leaf tea. I'm hooked on hot chocolate at the moment, not sure how much of that I'm allowed though lol but I've cut out all caffeine. Also, I love hot cordial to warm me up :)

I drink fruit teas now, they are caffine free and got no worries of anything herbal being a problem! strawberry and cranberry is my fav at the mo, the smell of blackcurrent makes me heave at the mo so that box is being left out LOL x

I keep having different variations of hot chocolate. So far, that has worked. :) Good luck!

I think it's green tea which most pregnant women are advised to avoid because it has an ingredient which blocks the absorbtion of iron, which we need 50% more of as we get bigger. I only learned this after I bought a nice big pack of it when I got pregnant the last time... lol.

I love chamomile, but have heard it's best avoided during PG :( So I've just been drinking lots of hot water. Also, hot mulled cider has been hitting the spot (with loadsa cinnamon). And sometimes hot cocoa, though I haven't been craving sweets and choc much.

Hope you find something you like. I'm cold all the time too since falling PG, and was lost at first without being able to use my heating pad and drink my green tea.
