I try my best not to sleep on my back. But sometime I wake up in the middle of the night ON MY BACK!! I've rolled over while I'm asleep without me knowing. So I get freaked out and roll to my side.. So I was just wondering how bad it is to sleep on your back? I'd feel much better about rolling over by mistake while I'm asleep! Have any of you ladies done this by mistake?

lol i do it all the time. i fall asleep on my right side and wake up on my back. it's ok to be on your back at this stage. the major concern with being on your back is the baby putting too much pressure on major arteries in your abdomen. the baby doesn't weigh enough to do that right now. if it will make you feel better try propping yourself up a little before you fall asleep. if you roll onto your back you'll be slightly elevated.

Honestly, I sleep on my back all the time! I think its too early to worry about this since baby is still on the smaller side. Basically I'll sleep on my back until it stops feeling comfortable.

I asked my midwife about it and she said it's fine to sleep on my back as long as I'm comfortable. So I'm not really that worried about it. I don't actually sleep on my back, but I lay on my back during the day when I read or watch something in bed. The whole don't lay on your back thing is fairly new anyway. Women have been having babies for centuries without worrying about it. IF you feel lightheaded or dizzy when laying on your back though, it's probably time to switch to your side! I expect that won't be until much later on anyway.
