As the title says really.

Do they pull themselves up like doing a sit up? roll onto one side and go up on the knees?

Tobi is sitting unaided perfectly now and has been for ages, and is trying to get up on his own, but I don't know how to help him!!

Evie gets on all fours then pushes herself back on her knees and moves her leg round from under her, a bit hard to explain but hope you know what I mean x

Thanks, and when did she start doing this?

poppy doesnt do a sit up, she rolls onto her side then swings her legs round and rolls sideways onto her bum!! if that makes sense!!

My LO tries deseperately to do it by doing a stomach crunch. Obviously won't happen this way. The usual I've seen from most the children at the children centres etc is they roll onto their side then use a hand to push up so then sitting.

My little girl just pulls herself up/sits herself up from lying down using her little stomach muscles. x

well Isaac did this yesterday for the first time and what he does is this:

1) Start on his front, laying (if he's on his back to begin with then he'll roll over onto his front)
2) get himself up on all 4's, rock for a bit ;)
3) move his hands closer towards him and towards his knees (so still kneeling)
4) slowly moves his legs from underneath him until they are out front and...
5).....da-daaaa!!! Sitting like a big boy!!!

Isaac was up on all 4's about 2 weeks ago....I reckon they will do this before trying to sit themselves up; all 4's and rocking -> pulling themselves into the sitting position.

I found him sitting up in his cot last night..sooooo funny to see and proof, if we needed any more? that our babies are growing up super fast!!!!

U can use a pillow to elevate his upper body which will help him pull himself up from lying on his back. Omar managed to pull himself to sitting at 7 months using a pillow & after 2 weeks he managed without a pillow by using his elbows to support his body & sit, then he started to pull himself to sitting with no support after few days. At 7.5 months he was also sitting from standing on 4 by crawling backward then sitting.

Brian sticks his legs up in the air and then rocks them up and down until momentom gets him up in a sit up positions.
He can only do that if hes laying on something soft though, he hasnt worked out how to do it while on the floor so waves his arms and shouts at me untill I pull him up :)

Hi Jaybee,

Mine started with the reclining position, he had been doing it for awhile until he was able to pull himself up. This is the video ( sit prep)

and finally at six months 26 days he did his first unassisted sit on his own! Proud Mama here. hehehe and I guess all us feels the same. How lovely to watch our babies achieving a growth milestones.
