How do I put photos up that are bigger than thumbnails?

I'm probably just being stupid, but anytime I've added photos they come out as thumbnails, how can I make them bigger?

Upload them onto an image hosting site like photobucket (once you've opened an account you can choose to make it private so you have to log in to view photos).
