My period is nuts every month. I got on a BCP in January and the day after I started bleeding and I bled till beginning of June. Then no period and next thing I know week later there is AF. My cycle is 30 days then 31 then 25 days . How do you plan your ovulation and planning when your period is irregular. My cycle was always 30 days and after I lost my baby last year it has been crazy.

There are ways to check what you cycle is up to, including taking your temperature, using opk sticks and checking your cervical mucus. My cycle can be anywhere between 24 and 35 days long. Before i started ttc it turned up whenever, especially when i way on bcp where i got af 2-3 times a calendar month for six or seven days.
As a rule of thumb, i count from the first day of my period and work out when i should ovulate based on my shortest and longest cycles. This then gives me a window. We then try and bd as much as we can in that time. I have used opk sticks in that window to pin it down even more.
Good luck!!

I had problems with irregular periods, too. I had surgery in April. Before the surgery, my periods were pretty regular...around 26 days. The surgery threw me out of sorts and my cycles were 35 and 30 days. My husband and I started TTC in June, but had no idea when I might ovulate. I used the digital OPK to try and get a better idea. I got a positive test, so we BD every day for 3 days and twice on one day. It worked out for me and after reading a lot of the threads on this forum I am glad that I used an OPK. The digital test saved me so much frustration. I have seen some of the other tests and I would assume that they are always negative. I can't process the faint lines-same with HPT's. The doctors wound up doing a dating scan and I was still not back to the regular cycle duration. I think they calculated it to be a 29 day cycle. I never did the CM or temping methods. I think that they work for some women, but that's over my head. I probably would have stuck with just using digital OPK's if I got BFN's.

So my advice would be to look into the digital OPK's. It should help you figure out if you have a somewhat regular ovulation schedule despite irregular AF. It may also be worth your while to research some of the other methods. I think that so long as you BD once every other day (maybe more frequently around ovulation time) you might have more success.

Good luck! :flower:

temp and use opks! that will tell you when you ovulate and then you can see how long your LP is and usually its the same every month... and I would say bd every other or every 3rd day that should cover all your bases!

I understand the frustration with irregular cycles. Mine are also long. The last few were 40-50 days for the most part. I use BBT charting to confirm ovulation. I also use the ovacue fertility monitor. It predicts ovulation up to 5 days in advance and confirms ovulation. It is kinda expensive, but with longer cycles it has already paid for itself. I don't ever know when to start OPKS so for me the monitor worked better. Good luck!

Thank you ladies! My period ended. So I will be trying again. Good luck! Lets all get one :bfp: !!!!!!!!!!!
