I think it depends on where you are from! Tair-uh is MUCH more common in Canada, but in the States I hear about 50/50 Tair-uh vs. Tar-uh.

And I've just learned from this thread that apparently in the UK it's Tar-uh.

It comes from a place in Ireland called the hill of tara.
I've never heard it pronounced any other way here.
