.. to get your OH's sperm results back? any advice would be much appreciated thanks :) xxxx

p.s. any advice I can give him to make him feel better about it? I think he's a bit reluctant :(

Not sure if this will help, but my DH went on May 25th and we are still waiting. As for advice, I just told him that compared to some of the things I had to do, this was nothing. :) He really didn't want to go, but he wants a baby badly so he was willing to do it.

My oh had his come back in just about a week, and i just kept telling him not to worry, kept reassuring him it was going to be fine and that even if it was low, that it doesnt matter because after all it only takes one little swimmer :)

anyway turned out he was fine and actually above average lol! so now he has a big head about it heehee!

hope this helps hun

Ours was 5 working days for both the GP and the FS - with the GP DH had to make an appt which is standard and they wouldn't give the results over the phone. With the FS only he could call up for the results but they would give them over the phone. Good luck x

my dh results took about 4 weeks but i think that was down to a mistake on there part because the gp told us it would be 3 days

hi my dh had his results bk within about 5 days.....

he wasnt too happy either about doing the test....we started off doing one of those home tests off internet....think we did it wrong tho, sperm result on it showed poor sperm & dh was so upset that he decided a proper test through dr was best idea....he was nervous, but the dr gave him the pot to do the sample in at home so i....kinda helped him...lol.....then i dropped the pot in at the lab .......sperm was slightly poor so my fs advised for him to take vits...he started taking fertile aid for men & then swapped to wellmans conception as they were half the price! his next sample was much improved! we are now 20 weeks pregnant with twins! i know its not nice going for these tests & stuff but its all so worth it in the end xx

Dancing, congratulations, that's brilliant news :hugs: Did you conceive naturally or did you have assisted conception? Can I ask you what the results of the SA was?

Our situation is similar to yours. OH was very anxious about it, but we found out we could do it at home as the clinic is only 5 minutes drive away and I too helped him :) In the end, we made a joke of it (amazing how small the pots you get from the GP practice are!) and it turned out quite fun. OH had to go with me to the clinic to hand it in as they wouldn't take it from me, but I did all the talking! The results were slightly low count and low morphology. Second test was much more straight forward having had it done once already and results were much improved. OH took fertile aid and cut down on alcohol. His third test is at the end of August and it has now become routine so OH doesn't mind any longer.

We always had the tests done a week before the appt with the FS, so got the results there and then.

Thanks Everyone :)
It went better than I thought it would, I 'helped him' do it at home lol and then we had to drive to the hospital to drop it off in the pathology dept. Getting the pot from his doctors was more annoying really! lol But I did it all to save him the embarrassment, as it really didn't bother me, it's not my sperm after all! lol

I must admit though, and I hope this isn't TMI for you guys lol like some of you mentioned -the pot was ridiculously small! we had a slight issue with getting it in there.. not as there was loads of it or anythig it was just fiddly and tricky :-/ .. will this affect the results?.. I did tell the person at the pathology reception who I gave the sample to and he said they would understand?! lol but didn't say much else, I'm not sure if he understood what I meant lol

glad it all went well. I had the same concern as not all of 'it' got in the pot. I was already concern that the quantity wasn't optimal as the soup doesn't normally get out of the bowl, but to my surprise, total sample was 3ml, which is absolutely fine (like to see at least 2ml), so with what was lost, it was probably 3.5 or 4 ml.

ah thank you!! glad I'm not the only one then! lol xx

glad it went well, hope the results come back all ok. ours took about 5 days and the gp gave them over the phone x

I am in the US, but I got mine back in less than 48 hours [I kept on the doctor's office about it though].
