Hi ladies! I've been ttc for almost a year and a half now and to be honest I don't know how much more I can take. I just wondered how long is considered long term? Am I still a newbie at all this or have we been trying long enough to be considered a ttc veteran??

How long have you all been trying? xx

I thought over a year on the basis that, if under 35 you contact a GP after 1 year. If over 35 its after 6 months. However, when you feel like your getting nowhere, any legnth of time feels like forever.xx

Hey,

Six month for over 35 and 12 month for under 35 is usually considered long term by most doctors on the basis that they won't do any investigations until you have been trying for that long.

We have been trying since July 2008 and I will be 25 in November and my hubby will be 27 in March.

Whenever you feel you have been trying long term is when it is long term for you. We are all individual.

Good luck. X

Yup you are now Long term, welcome to the club :hugs:

We have tried for 14 months but I kind of told a white lie and said we tried longer to our doc but good thing I did as it turned out I have PCOS..

We started getting investigations when we'd been trying for just over a year (cycle 14). OH is older than me and we wanted reassurance that his age wasn't a factor, especially as while we'd been using protection before we started trying, we weren't always religious about it.

I'd personally say anything over a year would be LTTTC. And if you're worried that it's taking too long, I would make an appointment to speak to someone.

Welcome to the board & hope it's not too long before you get a BFP.

I have to agree anything over 12 months (if under 35; 6 months if over 35) is LTTTC.
I think I fall into SLTTTC (stupidly long term trying to conceive), although in fairness a lot of that has been hopeful NTNP rather than serious TTC...

It'll be 2 years for us in 5 days  And every time I hear another pg announcement it gets harder and harder to believe it will ever happen to us :nope:

But we have no choice but to keep fighting! We all want a baby SO much that giving up isn't an option!
I moved to LTTTC when we were only ttc for like 8-9 months. But I already knew I had sever PCOS and just wasn't getting the answers I needed in the regular ttc section

Just nearing the end of the year makes me anxious, it's creeping up on my 2 year mark too!

Anything past a year and especially if you already know you're facing infertility.

Damita:haha:, I fibbed and told my gyno I was at 12 months too, around month 10. I just knew something was wrong.

We have been trying for almost 4.5 years now. Actively trying since (with meds and ER) since 2009; so 2.5 years. I have PCOS, but I do ovulate on Clomid and natural remedies. If nothing will work, we are planning to move to IVF next summer.

I'm so sorry you've been ttc so long rosebud, makes even my time seem small.
FX'ed and all the :dust: possible to you :hugs:

i would say a year too.

Me and my DF have been trying for 2 years 8 months now not even a hint of a BFP :(

good luck and :dust: to you all! x x

Hello and Welcome! DH and I have been TTC 4 years in November. I am 26 and DH is 29. We have been on and off "trying" though throughout those years. Now, it has been so long with nothing that we decided we are doing a laid back approach. Basically, not thinking about TTC and just having fun with it.

I have been good (and busy to be honest lol) to even symptom spot :) The only thing I have done is count days til AF shows, and that is just a general habit anyways because I want to be prepared for when the witch shows. I don't want to be out somewhere when she shows up! :)

As far as I know, I have no PCOS or Endo. Doctors never mentioned it. Hormone levels according to blood tests are good, but chinese doctor (DH is Chinese) says my hormone levels are low and I don't get enough sleep for my body to properly rest and function, which effects my hormones. DH SA results were decent. Not the greatest, but not the worst either. He has only had one test thus far.

So, that's me. Here's to sticky beans!! :)

Wow thanks for all your replies ladies. i have already seen my gp and had 2 rounds of day 21 bloods taken. Have our first appointment with fertility specialist next Tuesday. Think I'll stay in LTTTC from now on. Babydust to all xxxxxxxxxx

This brings tears to my eyes. I've been trying almost 3 years so completely know how many of you feel. It's a really difficult road to walk down, wondering when you will be blessed with the child you crave! Stick with it ladies :hugs:

My gosh, that just makes my 3 years seem like a walk in the park! I pray for you that you'll be blessed with a child soon x
