How far along should I be before I purchase:
Crib/mattress
Pack n play
Bottles/pump
Car seat
Stroller
Swing

Sorry I'm asking this but this is my first baby. I'm 16+4 tomorrow. I'm not sure when is the right time to buy stuff. I'm so freaked out that something could happen to my baby and i would have to look at all his things without having him :( should I wait till after my 20 week scan? This is an all new thing for me. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

There really isn't a 'right' or 'wrong' time. Once you're beyond the first trimester stage, you have really the same chances of something going wrong now as you do when you're 30 weeks... it's a small chance, and it occasionally happens. If you wait until you're SURE nothing will go wrong, you'll be waiting until baby is born.
In all likelihood, you'll be welcoming baby in about 6 months...so start shopping and enjoy the anticipation! :hugs:

Whenever you are comfortable :) Its better to spread the cost out, then wait till later and have to buy everything at once. Your chances of losing the baby are so low, I honestly would not even worry about it, you are now in the stage of enjoying your pregnancy.
Are you having a baby shower? I would hold off alot of shopping until after that, or so my mother told me. But you can buy the crib and stuff now. I would put the bouncer on the registry

i am buying the crib, and dresser, rug, lamps, and curtainrods and curtains, and some small decorations, but putting on my baby registry car seat, bouncer, swing, diaper changing bad, glider and what not (basically anything that can be bought at babies r us/target). I bought the crib at 17+4 and am now 17+6 :)

I think this is a personal desision. Most people recomend you to wait till after the danger time but me and my Oh had already pritty much got everything by then. weve had alot of stuff bought and as were on a very low income it would have been impossible for us to buy it later on in my pregnancy, there just wouldnt have been enough cash. The items like the cot and the pushchair was bough early on in particular becose the cot was a job lot on ebay and the pram was half price...

I dont like to tempt fate and even though im almost 15 weeks, im stillk as anxiouse as I was when I was 5 week, but I beleive that if somethings ment to be, it willl be no matter what

whenever you want! but like someone else said i would spread the stuff out so you dont have the expense all at once. i have bought a few outfits but we are waiting til after the baby showers to buy the rest.

I got my stroller/car seat at about 16 weeks, because it was 50% off at Target. I also bought a good amount of blankets and clothes there for 75% off. For me, it's about finding what I need as cheaply as possible--which in turn means buying it when I find it. Everyone worries to some degree, but maybe you'll feel more comfortable buying after your 20-week scan? Everything seems to feel more "real" after that.

I agree with shopping whenever you feel comfortable. We're waiting until our 20 weeks scan (at 22 weeks, lol), just as a personal choice. :flower:

Im like you wondering when is the right time to start buying things, Ive started getting bits every now and then but the big things, ie pram, moses basket etc will be left to 2 months before im due thats my mum's choice not mine, old wives tale i think lol

Same here I've been buying little things....and saving the rest till nearer my due date!

We're having a lot of work done on our house and it will get ruined and is another thing to move around!!

You might want to wait til 20 weeks if your going to find out pink or blue it might affect some of the choices you make!!

I have bought crib, bouncy chair, steriliser some blankets and comforters etc and i'm 17 weeks today. I started buying after our 12 week scan. Do what you feel is best

xxxx

I started buying bits whilst TTC! I find its easier to spread the cost out, leaving the nursery things until about 20 weeks or more though xx

I think anytime is right and when it suits you financialy. I waited until I was about 22 weeks before we bought the bottles, humidifier, pram and cot as I wanted to know the gender first. Makes the colour easier when we need to choose and I wanted a Nuk bottle newborn starter pack. You get it in blue, pink and normal colours. I bought the pink ones after we found it is a girl. We didn't buy the nappies yet as I am waiting for our baby expo in November - they are much cheaper there in bulk.
