Typically here not everyone has insurance... I mean a lot of people do but not most. And maternal insurance always takes a loooot of approvals so by the time you get the approval you've probably paid for half of everything yourself.
Instead of insurance we do have public hospitals and clinics that if they cost anything it would really be peanuts. My mom and MIL have always attended these hospitals/clinics for their pregnancies. They typically only got U/S maybe two or three times total. I opted not to go to these hospitals/clinics because getting an appointment takes forever... I'd planned to but I don't see the point of waiting 2 months for my first appointment. They are SO crowded.
So I've always gone private so far. And I've had so many u/s almost at every appointment.
5+2: severe cramping
6: ER, bleeding
6+2: clinic, follow up on bleeding
7+2: follow up on bleeding
9+something: bleeding
10+4: follow up on bleeding
12+something: follow up on bleeding
13+2: bleeding
13+6: started seeing a new doctor and she also did an initial scan to check on everything
It's not typical and it's cost me a lot so far... and then I hear of people saying how dangerous it is to have so many... but then I just dunno what I'm supposed to do when I've had a lot of bleeds and now another one
The new doctor saw no sign of the old SCHs and scheduled me again at 18wks and I was so glad that I'm gonna go a month without u/s but I guess that's not going to happen... lol
