if and when you use jars how much do you give your LO at meals and which stage jars do you give?

also do you give pudding with them?

:hugs:

rhys ether has toast or yoghurt for his breakfast.

i either give a full jar of stage 2 for his lunch, or half a jar and a petit filous.

he has mashed banana, stewed apple or yoghurts for his tea.

i really need to vary his diet however im at a loss of what to feed him in the afternoon as he only has something light!!

x

the boys have half a large stage 2 jar each for tea with added mashed potato or whatever and 120ml milk. Breakfast they have a wheatabix each with one mashed banana and 150 ml milk. Lunch they have petit filous some kind of sandwich (on slice each) and about 70ml of pureed fruit.

Hi hun,

I have just started to use the odd jar, pouch and give for dinner half an stage 2 Ellas pouch or half jar (stage 1/2), frozen fruit puree (homemade) in a mesh feeder thing to suck on or half jar of pudding or yoghurt.

I offer toast fingers and porridge and piece fruit for breaky. She sucks on toast so doesn't actually eat loads and same with fruit pieces (melon/cucumber).

I also give wholemeal rusks/carrot puff snacks/Plum fruit snack/ cheesey toast.

I could also do with some new ideas for lunch, especially now getting bigger. x

what a gorgeous name your baby has!!

I only give jars when we'r out. I only use stage one fruits or custard. Omar takes a full jar. If u'r using them at home, my advise, dont feed directly from a jar. When Omar was younger he couldnt take a full jar, so I used to give him half a jar frm a plate to save the remains for next day. I also mix fruit pots with yoghurt or cereals xx

Noah will have half an Ella's Kitchen stage 1 pouch for his meals, and sometimes a petit filous or half a fruit pot after if he's still hungry x

Rebecca will generally have the following:

210ml milk first thing

porridge for breakfast (+ toast sometimes) + 120 ml milk

1/2 pouch (stage 2) + whole fromage frais for lunch + water

200ml bottle mid afternoon

1/2 pouch (stage 2) + fruit pot for dinner

200 ml bottle before bed

She'll also have raspberries / a plum biscuit / carrot sticks for a snack if she wants it (she tends to gum these rather than eat them properly though!)

She tends to eat more if we give her a stage 1 pouch (she ate the lot yesterday!)

I bet if my lo was still on jars she still wouldn't even finish a second stage one. I used to half it then use the rest the next day. Always give pudding :p

So a standard stage 2 jar has around 200g.

Anna has 3 small home-made meals a day around 75-90g each so less than half of a jar really for comparison.

We are not at puddings yet. Just the one course at a time.

I was concerned that I wasnt feeding Anna enough but spoke to HV yesterday and she said thats plenty for 8 months and her weight had actually gone up more than expected since 6 months.:flower:

Olivia has
8am ish 210ml milk on waking
10am ish 1 x weetabix with 1/2 banana or baby cereal with full fat milk
1-2pm fresh fruit or yoghurt with fruit and 210ml milk (doesn't always finish the bottle)
5pm ish home made dinner (spag bol, couscous and veg or pasta and cheesy sauce etc) or a full stage 2 jar if we are out. Sometimes some fruit with yoghurt for dessert or as a treat some baby rice with 2 chocolate buttons melted in lol! 210ml milk (doesn't always finish the bottle)
8pm 210ml milk
11pm she usually wakes for another 210ml milk and almost always finishes it

During the day she will be offered water from a sippy cup and may have a snack small piece of fruit ot a few baby crisp type snacks (only maybe 4 or 5 a day). Some days she won't have lunch only wants milk instead but we don't have a set routine we're more of a 'go with the flow' family hehe

Evie is on Stage 3 jars now, she's coped really well with lumps and thicker textures so we moved her on to those when she was about 8 months. And those jars are huge! Stage 2 jars she would easily eat about 2 thirds of one.
A typical day of food -

7am - 7oz bottle
8.30am - Ready Brek with 3 oz milk + small piece of toast
10.30am - Rice cake or fruit snack
12pm - Half a Stage 3 jar with a small fromage frais/fruit
3pm - 7oz bottle
5pm - Half Stage 3 jar (or the equivalent of our dinner) with a small fromage frais/fruit
7.15pm - 7oz bottle

I usually put the contents of half a jar into a dish and then heat it up so I can use the rest of it another time - they're ok in the fridge for up to 24 hours (as long as they havent already been heated up)
