My lo is nearly 9 months old and I read somewhere yesterday that at 9 months they should be on 3 meals a day, is that correct?
My lo enjoys food when he feels like it but sometimes misses out meals as he either isnt interested or is asleep. How much should he be eating per day?

im constantly worried about this!
makes me jealous when i hear all these people harping on about how much their child eats, when i struggle to get anything in my girl's mouth, especially when she isnt in the mood!
i sit her down for 3 meals a day. we blw, so i offer 3 or 4 diff types of food, which 95% of the time is just bits of what im eating. i offer water at lunch and dinner, but dont push it yet.
i dont do snacks, but am looking to do this prob in a month or so
i find it all pretty bloody exhausting lol

We are also blw, I think that is harder to work out how much they have eaten then.

My lo has half a weetabix with half a banana for breakfast. For lunch he'll have something like beans on toast, soup and pitta bread or cheesy potato and cauliflower bake followed by fruit. For dinner he eats something like spag Bol, chicken dinner, lamb casserole etc that I make and freeze, his portions are 100g, followed by a yoghurt. He'll snack on cheese or fruit in-between. He has 6oz milk morning, 4oz at 2pm, 3oz at 7pm and 4oz at 10pm.

Hope this helps - he is quite greedy though and will eat pretty much anything!

Not sure how much they should be eating, (maybe see your HV regarding any problems) but at 9 months, Jessica was eating 3 meals per day plus snacks. I reduced her milk at 9 months to 18/19oz per day too as she was having 27oz + per day

Which weaning method did you both use? My lo doesnt eat anywhere near that amount.

I did tw, but gave finger foods from 7 months. Depends what he has but lunch he usually feeds himself at least part of it, snacks he feeds himself too.

Evan isn't 9 months yet but today he had a portion of ready brek with half a fruit pot mixed in. Lunch was about 12 pasta twirls, courgette, tinned tomato and some cheese 1 he had a massive portion of this! Then the other half of a fruit pot topped up with natural yoghurt. For tea he had a portion of our sheppards pie with some mashed broccoli and then about 10 chunks of mango. He also drinks about 25oz formula and about 4oz water.

I don't know how much they are 'supposed' to have but I guess at some point over the coming months (1+) they are dependent on food on just have milk for a drink. Feels odd having that transition though!

Evan has:

1 weetabix with milk, this morning he had a homemade yogurt pancake with rasp/strawberries, other days a crumpet or a piece of toast.

Mid morning snack of a banana or raisins or something

Lunch is usually dairylea fingers with a fruitpot or yogurt for pud

afternoon he has 8oz of milk

Dinner is anything I am having, beans on toast, scrambled egg, spag bol, mac cheese, chicken and some salad and potatoes whaever and either a fruitpot or yoghurt or fresh fruit for afters

8oz before bed.

He's shot up to the 75th centile for 50th in the last 9 weeks, I was feeding him more but have cut out some food a breakfast (he would have weetabix AND toast) The HV said he was eating fine and now he is nearing the year mark he doesn't need as much milk (especially as he eats a good diet and is getting a min 12oz milk a day the rest in dairy) He dropped his mid morning bottle at around 7 months and has recently also dropped his morning one too, although sometimes he has one at 5/6am if he wakes up but the HV said he didn't need it

We are still breast feeding on demand so I am asuming that makes a difference to how much food he eats?

Hi, Cookie - i'm reading this thinking omg too!

my LO ate today

couple spoons of porridge (refused the rest)
i'm so intend on getting a good breakfast into her that i then gave her a rusk with milk.

5oz of milk

half a 7month jar and half a fruit pouch

5 oz of milk

about 10 spoons of mash, gravy and sausage
3 strawberries and a chunk of melon.

4 1/2 oz

i worry myself sick every single day (i dread having to feed her because my heart sinks when she refuses, although i do stay positive infront of her and try and make it fun)

she only ever drank 24oz of milk at her peak, so i guess she's just a small eater but i really do stress all the time.

she sleeps through the night and never seems hungry so i guess my 15lb 10 month old is just a dainty girl (doesn't stop me stressing!)

*hugs*

I always worry about this too! Sam has not been very open to food from the start and it's a daily struggle (although starting these days to see some light at last!).

Sam is nearly 9 months and has been on 3 meals a day since 7 months. Fairly regular - breakfast at 8.30am, lunch at 1pm, tea at 6pm. Give or take half an hour occasionally but I try and time his naps and outings around meals so he never misses a meal. At least I always offer one - he doesn't always eat much! I know it's more about milk until they're one but I think the consistent routine really has helped him get going and I worry it won;t be long till he's one and then there will be more of a food emphasis.

Today he had

Breakfast - C&G Fruity Muesli - usually the recommended serving size of about 30g.
Lunch - Homemade chicken & apricot curry (2 freezer pots - porbably about 4 tbsp) with 15g (dry weight) boiled rice & a petit filou
Tea - Toast with homemade guacamole (I know, weird combo but he's more open to new tastes on toast!)- half a slice in his mouth, half on the floor - and half a rusk.
Snacks - a few Organix rice cakes etc

He has 21-23 ozs of formula every day.

That was a good day though! Lunch anyway. I use jars/pouches about half the time and limited success. I can only ever get him to eat maximum of about half a stage 2 jar.

Poppy is not quite 9 months she has:

toast and porridge with fruit puree
6oz bottle
meat or fish dish & yoghurt & finger food
6oz Bottle
veg or pasta dish & finger food
8oz Bottle

I find it hard cause my friends go on about how much their 10/11/12 months eat and how much they weigh and Stephen hardly eats anything compared to that and seems to put on a lot more weight than them

But his typical day goes something like this:

8am - breakfast - either weetabix type stuff with fruit or Porridge made with his formula
10am - rest of his bottle before his nap
12.30 - lunch i.e. a sandwich, a few sweetcorn rings, fruit or a fruit pot/yoghurt
3pm - snack i.e. fruit or ella's kitchen cookies
5.15pm - dinner
7pm - 9oz bottle.

:) hth!
