I read they should be changed after every feed but that would cost a fortune

When I had open cuts and stuff on the nipple I changed them after every feed. It was expensive but there are some good deals out there. Now however i am just using them to stop leaking and I use fresh ones after the shower in the morning and change them just before I jump in bed. So twice a day. Obviously, if I leak I will change them whenever that is during the day or night as well.

Milk collected in the pad breeds bacteria, which is why they tell you to change them after every feed or every 3 - 4 hours.

I use resuable, and just change them once a day (don't usually wear them at night)/

I dont BF anymore but I always used to change them after each feed, but then I leaked all the time! x

In the beginning when I leaked like a tap I used disposables and put new ones on after my morning shower and replaced them before bed, so 2x a day.. If he slept too long and I filled a pad or if I hada crazy letdown and leaked wayyyy too much I'd change them much more frquently. At about 4 months in I can just wear reusables during the day now (only leak if I get too full or during letdowns) and don't wear any at night so I'm down to 1x a day...

At the moment, new ones after shower in the morning, then again just before bed at night.

I'm just venturing into the world of re-usables though, hoping they'll be better cost wise if I can get used to them. Disposables seem such a waste of money!

Same as others, fresh set in the morning and again at night! To keep them fresher for longer, use a breast milk saver shell (i use avent ones) on the other breast when feeding to collect the let down milk instead of it soaking the pad!

I used resusable ones in the begining. Now I don't use anything. I very rarely leak and when I do its not very much.

Thanks all. I do morning and night too, also looked at washable ones. I did leak like crazy first few months but now that I dont I think they will be a better option. Any recommendations?

I was really pleased with the Medela ones. Hated the boots ones - really thin, scratchy and not absorbant. There are also so many really beautiful WAHM made ones but I've not tried any, but definitely will soon!

I have treated myself to some lovely wee notions ones :)

Where can you buy reusable ones? (I don't have a sewing machine...) I hate the disposable ones... the plastic feels suffocating to me, and they wrinkle up even with the sticky backing.

The do some gorgeous ones on wee notions shop online but you can also get them from boots or Mothercare. I went straight for the wee notions as I have bought quite a bit from them and there products are always brilliant quality.

Use washable breast pads. They dont even make extra laundry, theyre so small just shove them in with any other load.

In the beginning when I leaked like hell I changed them about 4/5 times a day, now I get a fresh (reusable) one in the morning after my shower x

I got some at Walmart for fairly cheap, they're pretty thin though and I couldn't wear them until about 4ish months as I leaked through them. I've also seen them at Thyme Maternity and most BFing clinics that sell BFing products

Try ebay and amazon
