Just out of curiosity, how often do you take LO out??

My LO is 2 weeks old today but we go out nearly everyday. I think I would go boogaloo trapped in the house all the time. When I was talking this over with a friend today though, she said it took 3 weeks before she even left the house, and even then it was with her OH.

Am I crazy for taking him out so much? We just go to the supermarket or my mum's house or friends, or even a walk. If we go to my mum's house though, we're not back until about 5pm. Is that a big no no?

I don't think its a big no no. Its whatever you feel up to. My son is two weeks old too and i have gone out of the house maybe four or five times. To me its a bit overwhelming, especially becuase i breastfeed and i try to time it better. Also my baby is a bit on the fussy side, so i have just decided that until i get use to having two children and being more confortable this is what we are going to do. If your good going out that often than good for you, but i don't think its abig deal. Have fun.

I think it's good that you're getting out!

I didn't go out much at all when Caitlyn was first born. It was horrible x

Cool, thanks for putting my mind at rest :) I may have to re-think the going out once we try to put a routine in place, but for now, its going ok (although the first trip out ended up in (my) tears!).

I am FF so I suppose that makes a big difference than if I was able to BF..

I go out every single day, have done since Chloe was about a week old. I too would go nuts stuck in the house everyday!!! My oh works long hours so I'm on my own alot. I mainly just go up to the shops, or to see friends which involves tubes and buses which can be a little scary at times but worth it for my sanity! Also dd doesn't really nap in the day so it's nice to get a break as she will sleep in the pram.
I'm also ff and it does make it much easier I think.

I suppose when she's a little older and needing naps in the day I will start looking at when I go out and for how long so I don't mess her around too much but I still want to remain flexible so we can go to the mum and baby groups ect.

until this point i have only gone to the grocery store 1 time and to the doctor. Mt ldest son has a cold and I have since gotten it too. Plus I had a c-section so that made me have to stay in. Now the weather is horrid (-30) so we have been cages in our house.

I have to go to town tomorrow though.

I think it's great that you're getting out so much. I bet your LO is thriving because of it. I didn't really leave the house for the first 3-4 weeks and got total cabin fever!! Now that I feel more comfortable I'm going to aim to get out every day with Abby. Xxx

weve gone out everyday without fail( n now we go out twice a day for hrs!) since morgan was a wk old, i wuda gone sooner but we were in hospital xx
its fine x

I have always gone out most days since Sam was really little, I would go mad otherwise! I have to time it more nowadays though because of feeding, naps etc but we still go out everyday unless one of is is ill or the weather is dreadful.

It's a great thing if that's what works for you! I love taking Ruby to people's houses, mostly my mum's, and my mum just loves seeing Ruby so it's a win-win. Times goes very slowly in the house I find, and I feel that fresh air is good for us! The only prob I have with going out now is that Ruby never has a decent lunchtime nap if we're out when it should be happening (which is 2 hours these days and makes a huuuge difference to her mood the afternoons) but at your baby's age he will probably sleep anywhere!

I think it's fantastic that you're taking yourself and LO out so much. It's good for both of you. Keep doing what is right for you.

I agree - it'a great to get out as much as possible. I go out nearly every day - to someone's house, to a mother and baby group, the library to sing and read, the shops. I'd go mad if I didn't and watch too much telly.

Now Eve is in a slightly more reliable routine (though still with lots of variation), I find she prefers to sleep in ther basket, and will do so fairly easily and regularly. hen we're out she is much harder to settle and cries more. But though I have to be careful to pay her attention and help her sleep, it wouldn't stop me going out.

We've only made it out twice as Beth is permanently latched to one of my boobs. I am also having some *ahem* pelvic floor issues and walking just makes it worse!

Which reminds me, time for my Kegels....

Depending on the weather I try take mine out everyday, even if it is just for a little while. Its good because I get to get out of the house and the LO's get to see the world.

i try to go out everyday! i take jack to tesco and thats a mile away from my house not any is it fab for jack but im loosing loads of baby weight from the long walks and my belly is nearly back to norm! xxx

We've been out every day since I got home from the hospital - even if it as just been for a very short walk. In the beginning this was because walking helped me bowels (sorry - TMI:blush:) but I kept it up because I think LO enjoys being out. She seems to like busy places and/or people in general at the moment.

I think it's interesting that others feel ff makes going out easier - I feel that bf makes it easier lol :)

It's good to take babies out to experience new things. THe only thing about taking them out so young is they don't have the best immune system. They are exposed to germs and different changes in weather (going indoors then out)... be very careful. I went out by myself when my LO was 2 weeks but barely brought her out with me until she was about 4 weeks old, and that was still very rarely.

We go out almost every day and have since LO was a few days old - I find days that we stay at home very difficult. He tends to get very cranky....

When Brooke was small i always made the effort to get out of the house at least once a day, even if it was just for some fresh air to the corner shop!!

Now i am barely EVER at home, ive always got things to do or people to go and see its a nightmare, we usually get 1 afternoon a week at home by ourselves :hissy:

I have to take my little lady out twice a day for the school run, and I always walk rather than drive as its only a 1.5 mile round trip and it'd be really lazy to drive lol, and I always make sure to wrap her up warm. I also try and walk around the shops or around the park if its fine for some fresh air.

I also think BF is much easier whilst out - I FF my little man and it was awkward always having to be somewhere that you could warm up a bottle. Its also a much lighter travel BF'ing I find :) xx
