Im having twins, im 29 weeks and next time i see someone will be in 5 weeks.

Everyone i have spoken to says that doesnt sound right, and im going to need to complain. but i just want to check that everyone else finds it odd that in a twin pregnancy im going so long between seeing people.

no it sound right to me, my appointments havent been so spread out caus of double up consultant + mw appointments but if theres not scans booked and everything is going well then 34wks sound right for your next appointment it would have been mine cept for a growth scan im having

Im not having twins but I had a 29 week appointment, the one today at 31 + 2 and seeing them again at 34 so I would definitely say there is too long between your appointments hun. Check your notes as there should be a space for the set appointments, but would also ring the midwife and see whats happening xxx

The next appointment should be 32wks, twins or not and in any country.

I think its different in the UK, but in the US, you are seen every 2 weeks at this stage, regardless of whether you have a scan or not...

I would definitely look into this as 5 weeks seems like an awfully long time, especially with twins!

I last saw my MW at 28 weeks, then it goes:

GP 31 weeks
MW 34 weeks
GP 36 weeks
MW 38, 40, 41 weeks

This is my first though so I believe I have a couple of extra appointments (I think 31 & 40??)

have you had a baby before as in my notes it says 28 weeks then 31 if not had a baby before or 34 if u have had a baby before x

I saw my MW every 4 weeks until 28 and now it is every two, because I have to have monthly blood tests to check my Anti D & C levels.

I thought that no matter what, once you hit 28 weeks you saw your MW every two weeks.

I'd ring up and make another closer appointment and say something once you're there.

Because I'm on baby number 3, I apparently have less appointments than a lady on her first. You're having twins, so personally, I'd expect you to have more appointments.

I was saw 12 (Scan), 16, 20-22 (Scan), 28, 32 - Now my next will be 34 due to arthritic pain, but would normally be 36.

I guess you should be glad that they're happy enough to leave you that length of time, which generally means they see you as low risk and babies are happy. But you could ask at your next appointment.

That doesnt sound right to me, I am considered low risk, saw someone at 24, 28. 30, 32 and will do at 35 & 37 weeks... not sure about after that x

every 6-7 weeks

7, 15, 22, 29 and my next one is 35 weeks.

This is my first baby and I saw my gp at 25 weeks, my midwife at 28 and my next appointments are gp at 31 and midwife at 34. I can't remember what's after those!!

2nd baby.....

apts at 12, 16, 22, 28, 34, every 6wks :flower:

I'm a 'red light' pregnancy so I have to see a consultant every 2 weeks, but my MW appointments were the same as yours, 28weeks and then 34weeks! x

I don't know what the norm is... but that does seem a little long for a twin pregnancy. It's my first and it's just a one baby low-risk pregnancy and my recnet appointments have been weeks: 23, 27, 31, 34 and next week at 36. so the gap between 29 and 34 does sound a bit odd as you have twins! Maybe I'd ask your caregiver why they are spread out more than some other women..

hi

i am having twins too and i am being seen every 4 weeks until 32 weeks and the after that it will be every 2 weeks.

they did say that this is because the twins are fraternal - if they were identical i would be every 2 weeks til 32 then once a week afterwards.

if it werent for consultant appointments mine would have been 12,18,24,30,36,38,40,41,then every couple of days, thats what it was with ds2.

ive had extra caus of consltant appointments extra blood tests and seeing a GP, MW and consultant caus they cant seem to communicate with each other

2nd baby for me and my appointments are 24, 28, 31, 34, 36, 38, 39week c section! :)

This is my first baby and I've had appointments at 10 weeks (12 weeks for a scan), 16 weeks, (20 week scan) 22 weeks, 28 weeks, 32 weeks and have one tomorrow at 36 weeks. I think they will switch to fortnightly check-ups after that.
