How suddenly can labour start?

It's 5 days until my due day and I have no signs of labour whatsoever. In fact I feel great! I've had no BHs and my bump is still quite high, I don't think I've dropped yet. Is it possible to go into labour without having any symptoms before hand? I'd like a little bit of warning that things are about to happen!

i had a few bh contractions on the saturday night with bella after no signs of anything beforehand (i'd never even had bh before). 36 hours later, i went into labour with her

my bump hadn't dropped or anything.

Ive last a tiny bit of plug and had a few BH but that was days ago, have had nothing since then Im starting to feel like its never really going to happen and it doesnt help when people are starting to try and guess when he is coming!!

hey ive heard alot of stories about women who have had no signs at all then they just went to bed at night and woke up a few hours later with their waters breaking...

Oh roll on Thursday I say. I'm sooooooo ready to have this baby now! Get out and walk little one. Your time is up!! I really wish there was a way of telling just how much longer is left til labour kicks in. I've got no signs either - just a few shooty pains at times which take my breath away then are gone as quick as they come.

With my DS i went into labour with my waters breaking, had no signs at all, no cramps, BH's, show etc. Only his head had engaged a couple of weeks before hand.

Unlike this time, i have every sign going but still no baby lol

Hi

I had NO signs whatsoever, no BH, bump hadn't dropped, no show nothing. Went about my day as per - in fact had a pretty busy day and felt fine. Then contractions started at 9pm, but totally managable pain wise. Got worse about 1am, went to hosp at 3.40am and I was 8cm dilated and I had my baby girl at 5.28am!

Have any of you tried doing anything in particular to encourage labour? Or planning on trying anything?

No real signs with DS1. He was born at 40+1. I went to sleep on DD and started having contractions around 3am. No waters, no show, nuttin. Total time from first contraction to birth was about 13 hours. Only about 20 mins pushing. Pretty straight forward.

i was induced but i had had no symptoms at all, and even when i had the first lot of gel, i didnt get any signs, from the first discomfort in my back to my baby arriving was 5 hours, waters broke whilst pushing.. xx
