I've never bought a Christmas tree before, OH normally says no but I'm getting one anyway this year I have no idea how tall it should be though! Our ceilings are about 280cm/9 feet high so I guess we could fit a big-ish one? How tall is your tree normally and how high are your ceilings? Any advice would be great please. We don't need space for pressies under it as we go away for Christmas Eve/Day, if that makes any difference.
Our tree is 6ft and I would say our ceilings are 7/8 ft as the trees not far off the ceilings. My house is new build so relatively low ceilings, my mums are really high compared to mine. I'd have a bigger tree if I had higher ceilings.
6foot tree and ceiling is 8 foot (I was going to buy a 7foot tree but the stand meant it would be too big for the room)
We have pretty low ceilings as like PP, we're also in a new build. I'd say about 7ft high? However, our tree goes in a bay in our living room which has slightly lower ceilings, maybe just over 6ft high? We get a real tree so always pick from the 5ft selection at B&Q. They're always just over 5ft really & once in the stand with the star on top, our tree pretty much touches the ceiling
our hallway doesnt have a ceiling, it goes all the way up to the roof of the house iykwim, so im planning a 10 ft tree this year with a 6ft one in the lounge
we usually get 6ft but I always pester dh to get a bigger one, our ceiling is around 12ft so I don't want the tree to look tiny.
Thanks everybody! Does anybody have a tall slim tree rather than the ones with more normal proportions? I realised that if we get a really tall one it will also be really wide so I'm wondering about the slimmer ones. We do have room but OH's going to be annoyed enough as it is without feeling it's taking up half the floor
Yes I have a slim and it is a lot slimmer than my standard and still looks great. You can also get corner ones but never seen one in someone's house just in shops.
Ours is 6ft, i have no idea about the ceiling, it's not that high but the shape of the room made our tree look teeny in this house. we are hopefully buying a 7ft.
OH and DS usually go and pick one, last years was about 6 foot tall, and about 7 foot wide!! (No exaggeration!!) I'm hoping they choose a thinner one this year!!
