How to keep pump sterile?

Hi, I am trying to pump several times through the day and it works well when I am at home as I sterile the pump bits in microwave. But occasionally I need to pump when out (maybe at mums house etc) but I don't know how to keep the pump bits sterile ? Any suggestions ?

my pump came with a small microwave sterliser box that if im going somewhere i take the pump in the box, and dont panic too much about it being utterly sterlie as long as its clean

Wrap it in cling film or pop it in a plastic food bag. The bottle will remain sterile if you put the lid on and then just wrap the pump bits up.

I did this a lot as I was constantly having to pump away from home.

The instructions that came with the pump i had said to sterilise for first use, and then for subsequent uses wash with soapy water and rinse.
This is exactly what I did and my son has been fine.
IMO provided you wash something well and rinse it, then dry it with a clean piece of kitchen paper it should be fine
I think sterilisation of everything is encouraged because there are always a few folk who have poor hygiene standards etc and it's safer to just recommend sterilising to everyone.

I agree with niffster. I never sterilize my parts except for when I used it for the first time. I've BF'd 3 babes and never had any problems. I just wash and dry between uses. I wouldn't worry about it IMO.

same as above! i sterlizied it in boiling water for the first use but since then i was it in hot soapy water and then rinse it and dry it

Hi im glad u posted this as i have been sterilising my pump everytime i use but from now on i will just wash as usual and make sure its nice and dry. xx

I have a closed system pump, so I also only boiled before first use and have used soap and water ever since.

I usually just wash mine with really hot water and soap.
