I am having major problems making the milk!!

When I pour the milk powder into bottle, the hot steam from the bottle clogs the spoon and prevents ALL the milk powder from going in. Then when I go for another scoop and another scoop, it gets more and more clogged AND IS ANNOYING ME LIKE ANYTHING!!

What to do? Do you wipe spoon each time? Won't that take time? Like aren't you supposed to shake the milk powder to disolve it asap or does that not matter?

HAALP!!

I just scrape the inside with the knife I use to level the powder if it builds up in the scoop too much. There isn't really much you can do about it I'm afraid love xx

You could try rinsing the scoop with boiling water when it gets clogged up. It dries instantly because the water is so hot.

I measure the power into a little pot then pour it all in at the same time. Jx

I don't get this prob too much, don't know if its the milk Jack is on, but on the odd occasion it does happen i scrap round it with the leveling knife too, i usually tip it really quick and hit the spoon with my knife and it goes in ok, i do like Jenfen's idea though x

This is what i have always done for this reason, and also because it always takes me about 3 goes to get the right about of scoops without forgetting where iv got too

I make my bottles using a measuring jug. I put the scoops in the jug, measure the amount of water in one of the bottles, pour the water in the jug, mix it up, then pour it into the bottle :)

I find my scoop works great till the last bit of the tin :growlmad: but I just scrape it out with a knife but ive also found that if you make the bottles up right after kettles just boiled it does it but if you leave the water till after 20-30 mins it doesn't  x

Do you sterilise the jug too? x

I just knock the spoon on the sides of the milk tub from side to side and it shakes most of it off.

This is what i do. I have 5 avent powdered milk dispensers. I make 15 feeds worth up at a time. Then just pour in when needed.

I am a bit obsessive with gadgets!

The whole scoop clogging thing just annoys me!

Just a heads up if using the TT powder dispensers you can only fit 6 scoops of milk in one pot!! & if you slot the dispenser into the bottle the steam clogs the powder up & u cant get it out.
Xx

Really? That's rubbish!
Is there any that you can fit 8 scoops in?
I'm not too bothered about them fitting in the bottles really... just fitting the powder in them would be nice!

Yeah that's true. I have the tt little food storage pots. They hold 8 scoops each and don't clog, plus you'll be able to keep using them for food later on. They're still small and fit inside the tt ctn bottles for space saving when out. Jx

I use tesco's own ones, they are round & has 3 sections, each section holds 8 scoops. Only £2 aswell.

someone had a thread on how they done it

this used to really iratate me so starte doing what she done

get your bottles and put the amount of scoops of powder in eg 5scoops then use a spare empty bottle measure the liquid 5oz then pour over the powder! no need to worry bout clogged up scoop anymore :D

^wss. It annoys me that much that now LO is on follow on milk and is only on 3 feeds a day he has ready made feed! No hassle

When i'm making up a few bottle i have a cup of boiling water handy to dip it in. I don't have that problem now as i'm using a milk that has so be made it with cold water. So much easier xx
