How would you pronounce the name...

Kiara?

My name is often mispronounced and I would hate to name my child a name that is going to be mispronounced too.

Key-arr-ah. But it would be a complete guess. To me it's one of those names where two different pronounciations come to mind right away and I just have to guess which one. The other pronounciation that comes to mind is Key-air-ah but I prefer the softer 'a' sound so I'd guess that one first.

My dogs name is kiara and even though i think its meant to be pronounced ki-ar-ah we call her key-rah

Yikes. There are even more various pronunciations posted here than I realized, lol.

I prefer Key-are-uh (rather than Key-air-uh). I've known 3 girl's with the name Kiara/Chiara and they all pronounced it Key-are-uh. Plus in the Lion King 2 the lion Simba marries is named Kiara, pronounced Key-are-uh.

I absolutely love this name - but it does seem like there would be a great deal of confusion!

Key-are-ah here as well. There might be confusion when people see it written down, but once you have told them how to pronounce it, they will know, so can't see the issue.

I think it can be either :-/ as the Irish pronounce kee-ra

My daughter is Evelyn pronounced Eva-Lyn but she's often called eve-alin. I only correct if it's going to be long term. Gp etcetera I let go...
