Oh my goodness, I never imagined that this procedure would be such a nightmare!!

The nurse said the procedure would take 5 minutes but it took half an hour as the hole in the cervix was so tight they couldnt get anything through!! They were on the verge of giving up after trying 4 different sized tubes when the radiographer said; "This may be a stupid suggestion but... can we use this?" and came out with some tube thing that was used for other proceedures which was tapered so may slide in. They said if this didnt work then they would call it a day and I would have to go to theatre another day for a laparoscopy and have the tubes checked that way.

Thankfully it worked but I was getting quite stressed with the whole thing as I had been lying there for 25 minutes, was visualising it having to be abandonned and had cramp in my thighs! To top it off there were two student nurses in the room as well. In the end, the dye went in but because they were improvising with the tube the dye spilled all over me since the tube was so narrow there was too much pressure and it sprayed backwards over me.

Good thing is that the dye went in, though very slowly through the very thin tube, and it was painful on one side where there seemed to be a blockage but this was cleared. So its all good in the end!!

Sorry for all that, just needed to get it off my chest.

Tell me about it! unblocking a tube should help but we have male factor too with low morphology so are being referred for iui. Now that tubes are clear just need to decide on which clinic to go to and wait for appointment! Im so excited but shattered as we only had our first fs appointment on tues!

Christ, sounds like a right ordeal!
Glad you sound so positive despite your experince though! :hugs:

Thanks dan o, I feel positive but feel exhausted and teary after it, which is strange! Think an early night is in order so off to bed for me.

Sending lots of :hugs:

Hope you are feeling a little better now xx

Sorry to hear you had such a crappy time of it! I have heard that sometimes they do have problems getting the catheter in. Glad they we're able to get there in the end.

I've got my HyCoSy (same as HSG) at the end of the month and really hope it goes ok. I'd be so pissed off if it got abandoned.

Thanks Dan-o I am feeling much better now x In fact I wrote an email today to the hospital to say thank you to the x-ray staff as, even though it was difficult, they were very reasuring and resourcefull to get it to work so that I wouldnt have to have a procedure in theatre. They were also appologetic that they promised it would only take 5 minutes. I cant really complain!

Tomo - Im sure yours will be fine, ill keep my fingers crossed for you. When is it? You will have to keep us updated

Love fluffy x
