Hunger vs wanting to comfort suck

How do you tell the difference?

Sometimes it seems like my one month old will eat too much and spit it all up. Is it possible she is comfort sucking on the bottle and not actually hungry?

I think you would be able to tell. Poppy does this too with her reflux, she wants to suck on something to calm the burn in her throat, but if I give her a bottle and she's not hungry she won't drink it. Sometimes she will have a little bit and come off of the teat, sometimes she cries and arches her back or squirms around.
