hi ladies.

I don't know if I am worrying for no reason at all but I just cant stop worrying about it.

heres abit out my medical history....I was born with hypothyroidism and have been on medication since I was 2 weeks old. by the time I was 7 my mother bought a book on thyroidism to explain to me all about it and what it was, she read the symptoms and realised she had a lot of these and requested the doctor tested her for it. it came back that she did have it, from there all my family got themselves tested and it came back that my nan, aunty also had it. then my aunty had a baby and she was born with it also. (so we do have a massive family history of it) i am currently on 175mg daily which is a high dose. I am now 25 and came to the point in my life where I am wanting a family of my own. in a previous relationship i wasn't talking anything to stop me getting pregnant for a year and still didn't get pregnant. i am now in stable relationship and have been actively trying for 4 months now (using OPK)

i normally bleed for 4-5 days and never very heavy. The last two months we have beded at the prefect times and still nothing and both my periods have been very very heavy with big blood clots and cramping but in the TWW i have had boob pain, sickness. i am worrying if this has something to do with my hypothyroidism and not being right for the fertilised egg to implant. i have called my GP and waiting for a phonecall back today but i am worried they r going to fob me off and say that theres nothing to worry about. :nope::shrug:

has anyone got any advice or been through this themselves?

I do not have problems with my thyroid but my sister does and I was looking up some information for her and found this https://natural-fertility-info.com/solve-thyroid-problems-before-conceiving-a-baby.html

I think going to your GP and getting levels checked so you know they are in a healthy range for conceiving is a great Idea
but also chat to him about TCC and no joy yet there are loads of supplements you can take to help

hope that helps a little good luck :hugs:

Hi thank you that was good reading that. Trying to get a doctors app at my doctors is a nightmare. Me and other half r giving SMEP this month. I am day 8 so just starting

Its a good idea to get your dr involved. Hypothyroidism can make it quite difficult to get pregnant but a lot of times an adjustment in meds will make it significantly easier!! Xx

I think if your levels are correct then your hypo/hyperthyrodism shouldn't effect your chances of conceiving. This is from the mere knowledge I have as a hypo sufferer.

I have had 2 previous pregnancies when I wasnt diagnosed and also 1 (this one now) since being on medication. For me it hasn't affected my fertility. It's very new for you in your TTC journey so I wouldn't worry :)

Hypothyroidism can cause troubles with fertility. I went diagnosed for quite some time. My TSH levels were usually between 7 - 12. It took me awhile to get a dr to take me seriously. For yrs my husband and I were not careful and never got pregnant. I'm on 88mg right now. My hypothyroidism isn't severe, but after I was put on medication at the age of 23 my issues with uterus/ovarian cysts went away, my periods got lighter, my mood and sex drive got much better and I got pregnant very easily, it was a god send. As long as your being medicated I don't think it should be effecting your fertility though. Maybe a different type of medication will help? It wouldn't be a bad idea to see a fertility specialist given your medical history. When you do get pregnant you will need to have your thyroid tested immediately and frequently throughout your pregnancy as your dose will likely have to go up. My TSH went through the roof with my pregnancy. If it's not kept in-check it can cause issues with the baby. Good luck!
