Hysteroscopy??

I am wondering if hysteroscopy is essential before IVF/ICSI? If someone has had an HSG which was clear, does one still have to go thru it?

Just found this post. I'm booked in for this procedure in august. I've had the hsg which was all clear so my fs said I could either go straight on the waiting list for ivf or I could have a lap and dye and hysteroscopy. I asked her that if my body can't carry a baby then what would be the point in going on the ivf register. She agreed and said it was up to me but because I get a lot of spotting it would be best to get checked out. I'm noyt sure why I need the hysteroscopy as i've had an internal ultrasound and hsg and everything looks normal so I'm assuming this gives aore thorough picture. She put me on the ivf register anyway so happy about that.

I had one of these after an internal scan as part of investigation into mid cycle spotting (which was actually quite heavy bleeding/random/annoying).
It picked up endometriosis on my cervix & a polyp in my womb (both were subsequently dealt with via a Laparoscopy.
Ultrasound didn't pick up any issues with me, so they decided to take a closer look.

Thanks teapot. I had mid cycle spotting this month. Was around the time i ovulated so at first I thought it was ov bleeding but it lasted for 4 day. Was like a light period on the first day but just tapered off into nothing. I'm hoping I don't have endo but recently - well after my hsg 3 or 4 months ago - I've been spotting for maybe 3 or 4 days before my period. So has everything cleared up for you now? x

Yes thanks, the spotting is vastly improved now, I just get a bit of an OV bleed & the rest of the time is fine.
I used to spot almost every day, very heavily, esp after BD & had terribly heavy AF - always flooded or leaked TMI
I'm back to using 'Green Always' now instead of the nighttime ones and I'm saving a fortune on liners!

Do you know how long the waiting list is in your area? I reckon it's worth going on the list anyway & having the lap done in the meantime.

my doc is recommending Lap and hysteroscopy as a part of the routine checkup before IVF. I do have a polyp which came up in my HCG so hysteroscopy is definite. But was unsure about the Lap. Doc sys i shud be up and about in 5 days post Lap and that its pretty routine. But i m a bit scared. Any comments ladies?
