Charlie is having a growth spurt and has been on the breast CONSTANTLY over the past 2 days. I've barely slept. He usually sleeps in a moses basket by the side of my bed but he's grown out of it and can only sleep in it if he's curled up. I'm trying to get him to sleep in his cot bed, it's still in my room, but he can be fast asleep when i put him in it and 4 seconds later wide awake again. I think it's the space that freaks him out. So here i am feeding him again, and i'll have to put him in his basket again or i won't get the sleep i desperately need. That's bad enough, but against a backdrop of hubby's constant really loud snoring and to top it all off the cat is flying round the room chasing a ping pong ball. I don't think i'm ever going to sleep again. Honestly. I could just run away. Charlie won't take a bottle despite best efforts so i can't even express a night feed for hubby to take over. What am i going to do? Any tips on getting lo to sleep in his cot? Not cc or cio please. Xx

You could try putting the moses basket in the cot for a couple of nights to get him used to it.

Have you tried a swaddle + then place him in when he's asleep?

My baby didn't like her cot for the first few days. I started putting a hot water bottle in it for 5min before putting her down. I took it away before I put her in, obviously. She got used to it really quick after that.

try feeding him for a longer period of time! he may just feel full then wake up again because he realizes he isn't actually full. trystin does this and i was seriously feeding him every hour. now he sleeps in bed with me and OH. but if you aren't for that, then try the swaddling thing and putting him in his crib. trystin loves his crib thankfully but i just can't force myself to use it yet :/

Sorry I didn't realize you are heading into the 12 week growth spurt. It's a hard one. Unfortunately it is only time at this point. I hope it passes quickly for you :(

Ours hated the crib but swaddle and hot water bottle did the trick-try it out:flower:

thanks everyne for humouring my sleep deprived rambling post, i managed 3 hours broken sleep last night and think i was delirious when i wrote it. Am going to try the hot water bottle and swaddle tonight. Bit scared about using a blanket, he's been in a sleeping bag for ages but if it helps i'll give it a go. I've tried putting him in it both awake and asleep. If he's awake he stays awake because he doesn't know how to self soothe yet, and even from the very deepest of sleeps he wakes up within minutes-it's a good job he's so gorgeous! Xx
