A collegue of mine, a male, was questioning me about Isobelle and the things she has mastered etc because he knows she is a late crawler (she can do it but refuses and just commando crawls lol) .. he has a 2year old son and was quite rightly bragging about what age he did things etc and I said she can wave and give kisses, and she also hums a tune (Mickey Mouse lol) but I said she can't clap yet, and he said "god, she's going to be a right thicko when she gets older"

I just laughed it off at the time and walked off but it really hurt me....

:nope::nope:

What. An. Idiot! Your baby will most definitely NOT be a "thicko". She is mastering things in her own time, and is doing fab! What a terrible, insensitive phrase to use!

What a horrible man! Ignore him hun. You daughter is gorgeous and she will do things when she is ready. Ive read a few of your posts and she sounds as though she is doing just fine.

Obviously its him that actually is the thicko, Rude person :growlmad:

He sounds horrible.
:hugs:
Your little girl will grow up with manners, which is more than can be said for that idiot!
xx

Oh my goodness, what an idiot. Don't even take any notice of him, your daughter will not be a thicko, what a horrible thing to say! xxx

Complete idiot! I didn't talk at all until I was well over 2 years old, had to keep having hearing tests as I just smiled at everyone - I am educated to degree level and like to think I'm not a thicko!

What an ignorant tool!

How rude!!

I didn't crawl! I sat still until I was 18 months, then I finally figured out walking, and you know what? I can crawl now, I can walk well, I also have a degree and too much common sense!

Your LO is absolutely perfect as she is, she's just in no hurry with some things! And definitely not a bloody thicko!

Don't believe a word that horrid man says. He obviously is downplaying your babys milestones as he has issues with his childs. Hugs xx

What an absolute w*nker (how many points would I get for that on countdown???).
Take absolutely no notice! What a complete arse!!!! Better not write any of the other words I am thinking of they would be too rude.
xxx

Wot an absolute Kn*b!!!

In my experience with men inparticular, they can forget things v quickely his child is 2 how likely is it that he really remembers when his child started clapping etc! most people exaggerate too so i wouldnt be concerned about this pri*k xx

That guy is an asshole.

Thats out of line! my son didnt crawl either till 11 months and walked at 14 months and two very clever kids I have. Also didnt hum tunes or wave to any one. Perhaps they drumming it in to the child over and over and over again which can be frustrating for babies. My mum used to say I should be doing that to mine so they can recite alphabets on 2nd birthdays. I dont see that as normal, kids play thats normal .Plenty of time for that when they get to school. Toddlers crawl and walk when ready it means nothing on an iq level.

Just remember Einstein didn't say a word until he was 3yrs old.

Sounds like your LO is doing great.

TBH I think it sounds like he was just joking and didn't mean it in the way that it came across. From the things you have described, she's in no way behind and I think that maybe it was a sarcastic response because she obviously wouldn't be.

Men do have more of a knack of saying the wrong thing and not really realising how much it can hurt. I realise it's not a nice thing to say and I myself would be hurt in that situation, but I do think that he meant it as a joke rather than offensively and I would try and not let it get to you and just brush it off as a joke which went a bit wrong x

What a jerk! I would have told him that he could shove his rude comment where the sun don't shine! Babies do things on their own time and achieve some things earlier and other things later...doesn't mean that they're not smart. People need to learn how to not say such stupid things! Don't listen to him :hugs:

Sounds like the comment came from someone who still hasn't mastered many things Hun so ignore the twit xx
