Until Monday, I had been off work for 5 weeks.

Yesterday was only my 4th day.

At 2pm I fell down a flight of about 15 stairs. Top to bottom. And tumbled. And bashed into a wall on the way down. I was knocked unconscious for about a minute.

Someone saw me and got a first aider and her manager who recognised me and knew my manager. They also called Nice M and security who blocked off the stairwell and wouldn't even let my colleagues or manager in! An ambulance was called and I went into shock and started shaking. Conveniently I landed in the recovery position!

Paramedics were called, security were called and no one was allowed onto the stairwell apart from the three people who found me, not even my colleagues or manager.

When the paramedics rolled me onto my back I screamed because of the pain, so of course I was instantly strapped up and put into a brace.

When I got to A&E (blue light ride which took about a minute due to conveniently working opposite the hospital) I was seen by a Doctor within 10 minutes. Having puffed away on the G&A since the paramedics arrived I didn't feel a great deal of pain, until he got to my neck when I burst into tears again. So I was strapped back up!

Had x-rays which came back clear and the doctor said I was very lucky to have not broken anything, gave some dihydrocodenie and ibuprofen and discharged me.

I was discharged just as Nice M (former supervisor and friend) called as she finished work and she offered to drive me home even though it is out of her way. She did make light of the situation which massively cheered me up.

I didn't think many colleagues cared much about me but I had 3 different messages on Facebook and I am not even friends with them!

My top lip now resembles Leslie Ash after her botched Botox with the added bonus of having a lovely cut and I have a bump on my femur about 6 inches long, 4-5 inches wide and 3/4 inch high! And I ache from head to toe. The co-drydomal I was given has been making me drowsy and I've slept lots.

I did it on good timing though. DH usually has Thursdays off but this week has today and tomorrow so I am being waited on hand and foot. Just frustrated I can't bath or pick up Harry or even risk cuddling him as he has a thing about lip grabbing and smacking faces at the moment!

One good thing about possible head and neck injuries though, I was in and out within 3 hours!

sorry you had such a bad fall. get lots off rest and some arnica for the bursing xx

I was trying to think of the name of the stuff for bruising, I shall dispatch DH to Boots in the morning!

Glad you're 'okay'. Hope you get lots of pampering and feel better soon x

Oh my goodness! I'm so glad your injuries weren't worse!

Arnica is amazing stuff. I was in a nasty car accident a few years back and the bottom of my boob where the seatbelt had dug in was totally black - like all the blood had flooded to it. I didn't know it was there until I got undressed for a shower and screamed so loud my housemate came running lol!

I kept rubbing the arnica gel on and it was totally gone in less than a week

:hugs: glad your home and your injuries arent worse.Rest up hun x

Sorry you had such a bad fall. :hugs: Hope you feel better soon! :hugs:
