Quick question ladies if u could answer please :D

I have c-section booked for 15th december, (39 wks 1 day)reason being...kians birth has traumatised me for life and dont want it to end in an emergency c-section again! BUT...i have always said, i dont think this lil lady is gonna wait untill then...and ive been told if i go into natural labour before the date, then to try and give birth instead of section.

Sooo...should i start drinking Raspberry leaf tea now just incase? I've never had this before, and have no idea what it actually does but so many of u reccomend it...? If so..is it just one glass? and a really silly question..do u add milk?

my mw told me not to till 37 weeks. i take the capsules cause the tea is horrible but then i never did like herby teas!!! cant believe sian is nearing full term already!!! im so excited for you what a great xmas pressie!!

Hey emmi eint ur little fella escaped yet  thansk for advice hun, her legs and belly are measuring weeks ahead  i just have a feeling she not gonna wait, but then again i could be totally wrong :hugs:

i bet shes desperate to get out unlike mine whos decided to squat indefinately!!! doesnt want to move hes kicking away in there very pleased with himself!! xx

Apparently it improves uterine tone (so makes your contractions more effective), and I was told to start on one cup a day from 32 weeks then increase it gradually.

I checked a load of stuff online and it's not shown to cause you to go into labour; that'll only happen when you're ready, but it can help with afterwards as well to help your uterus contract back down, so there's likely no harm in it for you even if you're having a c-section. Maybe ask your midwife next time you see her?

Btw - personally I think it tastes lovely!

I agree the tea is really nice! It's like a fruit herbal tea kinda thing! And no you don't add milk :haha:
I started it a few days ago, so about 34 weeks. Ivr got tea bags and capsules, starting at 1/day and will build up.
It doesn't bring on labour but tones your uterus and if you have a natural birth apparently makes the pushing bit easier. As someone else said also helps the uterus get back to normal after birth.
Theres no harm in taking some I don't think!

I started it last week at 2 cups a day. You can start drinking it from 32 weeks and it supposed to tone the uterus not induce labour. I like it too!!!! Might have one now .....

Will it have any effects if i do end up having the section? it wont make it harder for them to cut, or anything, or cause more bleeding etc?

No not as far as I know... I've read no negative things about it at all...

Cat!!! Cant believe how quick your pregnancy has gone. If it doesnt in anyway encourage labour to start then go for it honey but I wouldnt do anything that encourages labour. I had to have a planned section with James at 38 weeks, because it was a section and 2 weeks early he had a grunt and had to spend his first night in SCBU, Id hate that to happen to you.

If he had been born naturally at 38 weeks it wouldnt have happened but because with a section they dont get squeezed and the stuff in their lungs isnt squeezed out they dont do as well.

There is another thread on 3rd tri.. saying that you should start with rit + epo at 31 weeks. Ladies who started earlier had "amazing" deliveries, so I'll also be starting at 31 weeks.
