just bee to tesco's to do weekly shop, me oh little one and his 6 year old little girl

in this weelky shop was ONE bottle of beer and the woman asked me for id

ok i know they are only doing there job so i said sorry no i dont carry it ill just not have it

her response was you should carry it if you want beer I said i am 29 in 3 weeks and she said yeah right you dont look 21 so no beer

i very nearly told them to stick all shopping all £150 worth of it as it was nappy and milk week LOL

i mean look at my pics do i look underage https://www.facebook.com/#!/tessica123

Well from your fb profile pic I would say you look about 6 weeks old... :haha:

I got asked for id in tescos for sparklers last year when I had just tuned 29. I suppose we should take it as a compliment! lol! It is frustrating though. I take my driving licence everywhere now to save embarrassment. :dohh:

Im always getting asked for id at ASDA im there 3 times a week so they should know by now...i used to work as a bouncer so i know where there comming from ..when im with my husband whos 10 years older than me i never get asked though...im 27 in November as well as fit to burst with my second child...A few weeks ago i did a huge monthly shop had 2 trolleys and about £350 to £400 worth of stuff including all my sons back to school stuff and new baby stuff too...she got to a pack of 4 Carling and asked for id i told her i hand t got my passport on me(i hate carrying it with me at the best of times due to me having Epilepsy)...she told me i could have it in a really patronizing tone.... so i walked out....i left the trollys at the tills with half the shopping on the convener belt and the half packed bags and told her to stick them up her arse( i admit i was hormonal but i wasn't about to get into a debate about my age with a screaming 5 year old and sore hips and back from where ive had to walk round a packed supermarket with 2 trolleys worth of stuff!)...If i was a underage binge drinker would i really go and spend £350 in Asda just so i could slip in a pack of beer?!

As i walked away i could hear her trying to call me back quietly my guess was to let me buy the beer for fear of her having to put all the stuff back....stupid woman!!:dohh:

Lol don't start me on it! I agree they are doing their job, BUT... some of them do it to wind you up. The ones that ask me I swear they do it to p me off. Also you tend to not carry ID a lot with you as you presume people could see you were old enough...

Exactly!!I never got asked for id when i was a 16 year old lass buying booze but now im 27 everyone wants a piece!!!...i got asked by one young girl who looked fresh out of nappy's for Id for a bottle of Expensive whiskey for my dads birthday...Im talking the £60 stuff...i actually asked HER if she had any id she could show me to prove her age that she was old enough to sell it to me...Luckily i had my id on me and showed it her..I ask you when was the last time you saw a under-age youth sat in the park discussing the merits of drinking a 50 year old malt that cost £60 quid!?

i LOVE this! Good on you...id love to do this but dont think I would have the courage :haha:

ASDA is the worse for us, I always get asked (even though I'm 26) but OH never gets asked normally, he's 31 and looks older. But the other week we went and bought, like you, £150 worth of shopping and the woman asked me for ID. I had some and showed her but then she asked OH as well! I was pmsl, and so was the girl in the queue behind me. He was the same as you though, he said if he hadn't have already bagged the rest of the shopping up then he would have just told her to stick it! I understand they have to be careful but in no way does my OH look under 30, never mind 18! He never carries ID either so she refused to sell us the bottle of gin.

My OH got IDd by the same woman in our local co-op, twice a week for about 2 months!!

My mum is 52 and got asked for ID in Wilkinsons when buying a set of kitchen knives !!

I've worked for Tesco and in some stores you're told you have to ask every person who looks under 30. I hated ID'ing people that I knew were older but I was told I had too.
And if someone sells alcohol to someone underage it's that individual who gets a hefty fine, so I feel sorry for them, they're just trying to cover their backs. Blame the shop not the staff.

I had to ID everyone who looked under 30 and its not fair when im just doing my job and covering my ass when people start gobbing off at me.

Ive ID'd people who turned out to be 30 but trust me i didnt do it for the hell of it i did it because if there is any chance they could be under 21 then im not risking a £80 fine and possible prosecution

and if i happened to sell booze to a 17 year old who actually looked 25 and i didnt ID them and they ended up drunk and falling off a cliff or stabbing someone im sure i would get vilified for not id'ing

my OH got id'd for cigs in asda the other day... he's 34 :dohh:

I got asked for ID today, was rather chuffed :)

I got asked for id in a pub when I was 26, we wernt drinking we had just gone in to get some lunch and the girl refused to serve me without id but I didnt have any on me She had realy bad broken English and wouldnt listen when I kept saying it didnt matter about my id im not drinking just eating to which she replied very loudly in front of everyone "child menues finished at 5"
so I shouted back " iv been old enough to drink longer then youv clearly been in this country" needless to say we didnt get any food and got kicked out, I know it was bad of me but she was just being so rude and obnoxious.

I agree, working in a pub we have to id people and if we dont and they are underage we get fined and fired.
I actualy love id'ing people, even better if I knew them from school they where di*ks and didnt have ID on them :)

We do have some complete idiots at work though, one of the lads served a 16 year old vodka and coke and refused to ID her when I told him to.
And another one served a woman who was old enough but she had 3 kids between 7 - 16 with her, she bought 4 alcoholic drinks and I sat there and watched her give the drinks to her kids (yes we seriously have nut jobs like that come into our work) and the lad couldnt understand why I was getting annoyed at him when it was obvious she was buying drinks for kids.
I also love kicking people out for underage drinking and taking drinks away from people that give them to their kids ( I will kick them out if the keep doing it) with no refund for the drink.

I hold the alcohol licence for the shop i work in. I have to make sure all my staff check everyone that looks under 25 for id otherwise they could get a fine and me sent to jail if they sell to an under 18. A while ago a new boy started working and i hadnt met him yet, i went in to buy alcohol for my oh and he asked me for id! Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. I refused, and absolutely wet myself, the girl that was working with him said i worked there. To be fair tho i was only 20 and he was doing his job! X

it wasnt the getting asked that bothered me it was her attitude that got me just because id not got any

yet last week my mum lost her bank card and wanted to do weekly asda shop so she put money in my little sisters bank she is 16 and has a visa debit card on it did the shop with wine and beer on it yet no id verification there and sister even signed for delivery as mum wasnt it

I get ID'd a lot..my best one was in co-op when buying cigs back when i smoked..the age was 16 to buy them, i was about 24..and had lived across the road from the woman serving me for 24 of those years. Yet she refused to serve me cause i had no id!
