I am at the tail end of finishing the hormone pills on a birth control pack to induced a cycle. The plan with my OBGYN was to do Clomid on days 5-9 of my cycle. I had some spotting last week and yesterday started a light bleed and today also had a light bleed. I felt like I was having a typical withdrawal bleed from BCP, tender breasts and pressure in my abdomen. I actually thought that I could stop taking the pill now (I have four hormone pills left) get this cycle started and take clomid sooner. I called my OBGYN office today to see what she thought. I DID NOT get the news I wanted. She said the bleeding sounds irregular and not a "true period" and wants me to finish this cycle of pills, not do clomid and do another 3 weeks of BCP and then try Clomid.

Obviously I am really devastated by this decision and I do not like it one bit. I am approaching month 11 of ttc, have not ovulated once and I was so excited to get things started. I am really tempted to say f**k this and take the clomid anyway (I have the pills). I can't stand the thought of being on another three weeks of BCP. My OH suggested I switch doctors but by the time I get connected with a new OBGYN it will probably be another 4-5 weeks anyway...I feel like I am back at square one and I really don't know what to do.

What do you ladies think about this situation? What are your objective opinions and what do you think you would do?

Honestly, I would wait until you get a proper period. I don't know too much about Clomid but I think it would be best to do it right as you certainly don't want anymore set backs xx The good news is, I've know plenty of women who have fallen from the first cycle of Clomid, so you have that to look forward to xx Have you spoken to a naturopath to see if there are other ways to bring on your period? Bcp certainly isn't the only way xxx It might be worth looking into if you haven't already xxx Good luck sweetheart xxx

They wanted to use this approach with me when I found out I was t ovulating but after being on bcp for so many years I spoke to a naturopath and did some research and was able to naturally regulate my cycle. Not necessarily the approach that will work for everyone but I'm glad I was able to fix my cycles without adding more hormones to my already imbalanced hormonal cycle to try to get pregnant. I used chaste berry and started ovulating straight away and continued to take it even when I wasn't pregnant as it helped with all my other issues. I know that some women do need more intensive fertility treatments but it's good to know that they're are natural long term solutions available for those who want to try it.

Thank you for your responses. I called my OBGYN back yesterday first thing and spoke with a nurse. Told her I needed some clarification as to why I can't start Clomid and asked if we could wait a few days and see how things turn out before making that call. I also told her I did not want to do another month of BCP because the estrogen is bad for my migraines and would prefer to do a progesterone withdrawal. She said she would talk to the doc and get back to me. Well...no one called me back yesterday. I called after lunch and the women I spoke with said she was going to directly give the nurse I spoke with the message to call me back. The office closes in 1.5 hours and I still haven't heard back. I am considering switching offices right now.

I'm sorry they're being no help sweetheart xx Did you end up hearing back from them? I hope you get some answers soon. I do agree with previous poster about the chaste berry (otherwise known as agnus cactus, or Vitex), it's the reason my son is here with us today. Almost 3 years of anovulatory cycles with the occasional O cycle that I would always mc. Within three months I got my BFP. I'm on it again as we're on cycle #9 and we've just found out my lp is only 8 days. I really suggest speaking to a naturopath about it because it's truly an amazing berry. All natural and no nasty hormones to force things medically, if you know what I mean. Of course if you feel what the specialist has planned it best, that's great too, just another option xxx I hope things soft out soon sweetheart xx

Thank you for your encouragement! I was on vitex for 6 months and it did not help regulate my cycles, its awesome that it helps you though! Right now I am managing my PCOS through the PCOS diet, supplements and myo inositol. My docs office never called me back, which really upsets me. My OH and I had a long talk about the situation this evening and here is our game plan: If my doc calls back and gives the green light for Clomid then I will go for it this cycle. I decided I won't restart BCP, I don't think it is the right choice for me right now. I am having a really good withdrawal bleed right now from the BCP. I have made a lot of changes in the past month, I also have two fertility massages and Japanese acupuncture appointments already scheduled for the next few weeks. For now, I am going to start temping and charting again and using OPKs and see if I can ovulate on my own in the next few weeks. I have a consult with a different OBGYN in two weeks to get a second opinion on my situation. I feel really good about this plan, I was so excited to start the clomid but I think I need to take a step back and make sure I am making the right call. I have only spoken to one OBGYN ever so a second opinion will help me make a more informed choice.

I am considering going to a naturopath, right now I have all the appointments I can handle but it is not off the table for me!

I'm sorry to hear that Bitex didn't work for you xx
Your plan sounds good, especially your positive emotions towards it. Positivity is key! Best of luck lovely one and I really hope you get that BFP soon!! I'll have everything crossed for you <3
