I'm pretty convinced Parker has a tongue tie. I thought I spotted it when he was a couple days old, but my mom convinced me that he didn't (because he was feeding so well and his latch was so perfect), so I pushed it to the back of my head. But the other day I got my first good look at the bottom of his tongue, and it definitely looks tied to me (I Googled it to compare ). I don't think its a severe one or anything though.
I'm just wondering - we've had no issues with feeding. His latch has always been perfect. He's making pleeeennnty of wet and dirty diapers, and he's outgrowing outfits faster than I can even enjoy them (not sure exactly how much he weighs). So I'm not concerned about how its going to impact breastfeeding, because if it was going to, I assume it already would have, right? His 8 week well-baby checkup is the first week of February and I'm going to have the doctor look at it then to confirm or deny if it exists, mostly just to satisfy my curiosity. But now I'm wondering ... since it doesn't seem to be impacting his ability to nurse efficiently, is there any reason I should need to think about having it cut? Do tongue-ties have any sort of effect on the child in other ways (i.e. moving on to solids, speech development, etc)?
