I think I could be having a failing pregnancy (update good news)

so here goes the story i went for a scan on friday just gone i would of been 5 weeks +3 had transv scan and they never seen anything nothing at all so i had blood tests and they have to repeat them tomorrow im devastated

has anyone else had anything like this xx

because i got referred by my gp for bleeding and cramping but the ob seemed really negative about it

Oh, I thought it was quite early for a scan, especially in the UK! I think they just have to prepare you for the worst case scenario. When did they say the results would be back? x

i have to go back tomorrow at hospital for some more bloods done to see if they have doubled or not but im not sure if i find out the same day thats another question i wanted to ask do you get blood results same day

A close friend of mine had a scan and they couldn't see anything. She went on to have a beautiful baby girl who has grown up into a 3 year old little madam. Her blood tests confirmed pregnancy so booked her in for another scan 2 weeks later. There she was. In the very early stages of pregnancy babies are very good at hiding. Try to stay positive, what will be will be xxx Fingers crossed for you hun

5w3d is pretty early for a scan, it's possible baby is just too small to see yet - I really hope that is the case for you, will be crossing everything that your blood results are good, keep us updated hun xx

I went in for my "6 week scan" and they saw only an empty sac. I was and still am 100% positive about my dates. They put my due date back 3 weeks on the spot. They told me I was 4 weeks and 6 days or I was going to have a miscarriage. I had to wait 10 days and then go back in for another one. I was freaking out, felt sick, wanted to cry, wanted my baby and didn't want to go through a miscarriage. I went back in 10 days later and I was 6 weeks plus a few days. There are lots of posts on this forum about that issue.

I had the same thing hun but mine was at 6w2d and they saw nothing, just a thickened lining. Told me was either too early, miscarriage or ectopic. Had 3 lots of hcg and unfortunately it was rising but doubling. A 2nd scan a week later showed a small sac but sadly after 3 more scans nothing has ever developed in it.

My epau will not scan before 6 weeks as they say scans are always inconclusive this early. I think if you're hcg is doubling then its prob just too early. I got all my blood results back the same day and one of them was even on xmas day and the on call Dr rung me. You can always ring and ask for them if they don't ring you.

A lot of ladies on here have had early scans which have not gone well but then had baby show up on later ones so don't give up hope yet, its still really early.

my friend went for a scan at what she thought was 6 weeks but she wasn't she was 5 and the only thing they saw was a pin headed sized dot! try not to worry, they said it was a lucky find with her and they were staring at the screen for ages!!!! it really could be just too early!!

Stress is the worst thing right now, I'm in the same boat and having my first scan at 5w5d where I know If I don't see anything, I'll be panicking.

i had a scan on tuesday and my dates i was 5 weeks, they found the gestational sac easily enough and took a while to find the yolk sac with teeny tiny fetal pole, they put me at 5 weeks and 3 days
they said normally you cant see anything at 5 weeks and 3 days so please dont worry
i have another scan on friday (by their dates i will be 7 weeks) to look for heartbeat

i have to say having early scans is definatly more stressful x

I had the very same thing with my pregnancy. They didn't see anything on my internal scan as well but mine was closer to 6 weeks. They also took my bloods and when we came back again they had risen. I'm still doing ok with this baby so there is hope for you.

I had a scan at 5 weeks and they saw nothing either I'm now nearly 22 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby boy, baby is VERY small at this stage and a matter of days can be the difference between seeing a sca or seeing nothing at all. Keep us updated hun x

hello ladies thanks for keeping my emotions up and high had my second lot of bloot tests today and they have more than doubled since friday so happy got to go for another scan on the 30th im being kept an eye on closely just feel much much better

Just seen this thread, and wanted to say that the exact same thing happened to me at around 5 weeks.

i had some bleeding and my Dr sent me for a scan, they couldnt see anything and then had to rule out ectopic!

The staff at the EPU were livid that I had been sent so early! and normally they dont do scans before 6 weeks!

Anyway i had my bloods and like you they more than doubled every 48hrs and since then I had a follow up scan at 8 weeks where we saw a very healthy bean with a nice heartbeat.

Dont worry hun, am sure that you were just too early and everything will be fine xx
